God IS Watching

“The true test of a man's character is what he does when no one is watching.”

This is a famous quote from John Wooden. An Author and retired Basketball Player and Coach. He is also famous for this Quote...

“Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.”

Another Quote comes to mind. This one from an old Friend of mine, and a Superstar in Law Enforcement, Chief George A. Rowley.

"Always live your life as if you are on Stage and someone is watching everything you do. Why? Because there is a good chance that someone is. If you live your life as if someone is watching, you will always do the right thing."

All these are totally true. It is not what you do in public that makes you the true you. But what you do behind closed doors. What you do in private. What we are going to talk about today is one of those taboo topics. One of those topics I have been told I should never talk about. One of those topics that people hate to think about. I will be made fun of. So I'm told. People will get angry with me. So I'm told. People will turn off and tune out. So I'm told. People will never come back.. So I'm told..Guess what? We are going to talk about it anyway.

See, the truth is the truth, regardless of the fact it offends people, angers people, scares people, or any other reaction people may have. This is one of those truths that a Child Of God really needs to grasp and will HELP you grow in Faith. It will help you become a better person. It will protect you, even from yourself, in some cases. The Truth? God is watching. God is watching YOU.

{Jeremiah 23:24}

"Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD."

Remember when you were a child? You did some great accomplishment. What did you do? You said to your Mommy or Daddy, "Come. Look. See." You proudly stood there as they came and looked upon what you did. You were hoping that they would be proud of you. You were hoping that they would be happy with you. You wanted them to celebrate with you.

Remember when you were a child? You found your Daddy's Dirty Magazine. Or you took that Beer. Or you found your Mom's Cigarettes? Remember what you did? You locked yourself in the Bathroom. You hid in your room. In the Shed out back. You went into the Woods. Whatever. Point is, you hid yourself away, so that they could not see you.

Why? Of course, you feared getting into trouble. But deep down inside, you didn't want to disappoint them. Deep down inside, you did not want to let them down. Deep down inside, you didn't want to hurt them, or have them think badly of you.

This is why most crimes happen at night. Why? Bad people hope that the darkness will hide them and their deeds. Remember John 3:19-21?

"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God."

Like I said, when you did something as a Child, that you knew would make your Earthly Father Proud, you said "Come. Look. See." But when you did something wrong, you did not want him to Come. You did not want him to look. You hoped beyond hope, that he did not see.

However, God is not Man. God is God. He "fills Heaven and Earth" He is every where you may go or be. He doesn't have to come. He is Looking. He does see. He is THERE with you. Remember what Jesus said?

{John 14:23}

"Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him."

Read that again. "If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and WE will come unto him, and make OUR abode with him." What is He saying? Remember, OUR means three or more. Jesus said WE will make OUR abode with him. The very real person Jesus, the very real person the Holy Spirit, and even God Himself, will live IN us.

Where we go. He goes. What we do, He is there with us. Be careful Child of God. You cannot hide from God. As a matter of fact, you cannot even hide your intentions from God. Why? God knows what you are thinking before you even think it. Seriously..

{Jeremiah 17:10}

"I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings."

So even if you just think it, God knows. Are you guilty of Sin even if you do not act on it? Well, Jesus did tell us,

{Matthew 5:28}

"But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart."

Sin always starts in the Heart, Mind, then Deeds. The Sin becomes thoughts. You start playing that scenario over and over in your mind. You fire up that movie projector. You imagine the feelings, the fun. the experience. You start thinking of ways that this could come to pass in reality. Then you act on it.

{James 1:15}

"Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death."

See, the thing is, God is in that Movie Theater of your Mind. He is eating Popcorn, sipping on some Soda. Watching the Movie. Then He is watching you to see if you attempt to live it out in real life. He will be there when you do. You cannot hide it from God. As a matter of fact...

{Luke 8:17}

"For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad."

Oh you may think no one is watching. You may think you got away with whatever it may have been. You may go on to live your life as if nothing happened. However, "For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known" God IS Watching..

So what do you do? Act as if He is right there with you. Think about that. What if you were alive when Jesus was with us, in the flesh. When Jesus was walking amongst us. If He was sleeping on your Couch. Would you still do the things you do? If you have company over, do you still do the same things you do, as if no one was there?

Way too many Children of God have this false concept. Oh, they have no problem believing He is there in the Bad Times. When they are in trouble and need help. They have no problem believing that God is waiting for them in a building that they go to on Sundays. But I got news for you. God is there in the good times also. He is there ALWAYS.

Just like when you were a Child, and you wanted to make your earthly Daddy proud, we should all act this way toward God. We should do things where we want to cry out, "God. Come. Look. See." We should be trying to make Him proud of.us. After all, God IS watching.

Do you know Jesus as your Savior? Have you been adopted into the Family of God? If not, say this Prayer. Right now. Wherever you may be. Say it in your own words, and do not doubt in your heart. God will hear you. He will send the Spirit of Life to you. Let us Pray..

"Oh heavenly Father, Lord God. I am a sinner. I know this. I know there is nothing I can do to change that. But I know you can. I accept Jesus's sacrifice for me. I repent my sins. Please send the Spirit of Adoption into my life. Help me to get to know the real you. Save me. Please. In the name of Jesus, Amen!"

That's it. It really is that simple. Now go tell someone what you have just done. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." {Romans 10:9} You need to find a Church that God leads you to, and be Baptized the way Jesus said to be. You are now a Child of God. A new Creature. You "have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him." {Colossians 3:10}
