The Commercialization Of The Holidays?

Or Something Sinister?

Happy Halloween, wait, Merry Christmas??

Don't you hate it? I know I do. You just figure out what your little kiddie wants to be for Halloween, and as you are buying you goodies for those that may knock on your door, you see out of the corner of your eye, Christmas displays being put together.

Oh yeah, tis the Season. Going to the store to get the Bird, and listen to Jingle Bells playing on the Muzak System. Whatever happened to Thanksgiving? This year, more and more Stores have opened on Thanksgiving for their special Black Friday deals.This means more and more people were FORCED to work on Thanksgiving and not spend time with their Families.

The thing that is even more sad, is this. What is Halloween? What is Thanksgiving all about? What is the meaning of Christmas? What about Easter? Forget the other "Jewish" Holidays. Unless you are a practicing Jew, you most likely have no idea what the Passover, Rosh Hashanah, or Yom Kippur even are, or when they are.

So why is this? Why is it Thanksgiving is a lost Holiday? Why is it that most people cannot even tell you the true meaning of the Holidays. Halloween is dressing up and getting candy from strangers. Christmas is about a Fat Guy in a Red Suit, and about getting stuff. Easter has colored eggs, more candy, and a Bunny hoping down the Bunny Trail.

BILLIONS are made on the Holidays. BILLIONS of Dollars. Halloween over $6.0 billion, Father's Day $10.2 billion , Easter $14.02 billion, Mother's Day $14.88 billion, Valentines Day $17.60 billion, Thanksgiving $30.5 billion, Christmas $135.16 billion.

In all this spending, and all this receiving, there is no wonder why the Holidays are so important to business. But wait? If Thanksgiving is the number two Holiday in Billions spent, then why is it NOT the number two Holiday marketed in all the Stores?

See, if you are like me, you would have thought, OK, All that Candy, Costumes, Decorations, I get Halloween. Easter? Again, all that Candy, Decorations, ETC. Christmas? Well, that pretty much goes without saying. I mean seriously? All the Food, Decorations, and all those Gifts. What do we have to do for Thanksgiving? Buy a Turkey? So it is all about Marketing and Profit Margins. But that's NOT it.

No, it is even more Sinister than that. Did you know God is in all the Holidays? Or at least He should be? Did you know He was? Let's look at the Holidays.

Halloween?
"Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God." {Leviticus 19:31}
Also warning us, God says this..
"As for the person who turns to mediums and to spiritists, to play the harlot after them, I will also set My face against that person and will cut him off from among his people." {Leviticus 20:6}
What is Halloween all about? Dressing up, and worse, dressing up our Kids, as Ghosts and Gobblings, Evil Spirits and Zombies, and then we send them out into the darkness to be scared and knock on Stranger's Doors, begging them for Candy?

King Manasseh did all kinds of evil. One of which was this..
"He made his son pass through the fire, practiced witchcraft and used divination, and dealt with mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD provoking Him to anger." {2 Kings 21:6}
Halloween is all about Darkness and Evil. It is a celebration of such. As a Child of God, you are suppose to be fighting against such things, not celebrating them.
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." {Ephesians 6:12}
So why is it so popular? It goes against God.

What about Mother's and Father's Day? How is God in these? Well, what are these all about? Yup. Honoring your Mother and Father. Right?
"Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee." {Exodus 20:12}
So it doesn't matter what you do the rest of the year, as long as on this day, you better get your Mom some Candy and Flowers, and your Dad, uh, Socks. Right? All is OK. All you have to do is Honor them this day and all is well? Wait..
"For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition." {Matthew 15:4-6}
Valentine's Day? The day we should be Honoring those we love. Right? Honor and Love our Wives and Husbands?
"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;" {Ephesians 5:25}
And
"Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband." {Ephesians 5:33}
Yet, Valentine's Day has turned into giving of gifts, Flowers, Candies, ETC. To those we lust after, as well as those we actually Love. Marriage is irrelevant. Even our Children give Cards and Candies out in our Schools. It is all about that fat little Cherubim shooting arrows into those who fall in Love.

Now let's talk about one that you may not even think has anything to do with God. July 4th. Yup. Independence Day. Don't worry, we will get to the two most obvious in a second. But what does God have to do with Independence Day?

Did you know that there are five references to God in the Declaration of Independence? This Country was founded on Judaeo / Christian beliefs. You can find God, and Biblical quotes in all the Founding Documents. The Anti-Federalist Papers, The Articles of Association of 1774, The Articles of Confederation, The Constitution of the United States, The Declaration of Independence, Original Draft of the Declaration of Independence – Thomas Jefferson, The Federalist Papers by Hamilton, Madison and Jay, The Kentucky Resolutions of 1798, The Treaty of Paris of 1783. It is clear, that not only in these all but forgotten Founding Documents, but also in Private Communications between the Founding Fathers, that this IS a Christian Nation. Even our Laws are based on the Ten Commandments.

The whole reason this country even exists is for Freedom to worship God anytime and anywhere we chose. There is no Wall of Separation. There is no "unless someone become offended." We should be celebrating this RIGHT to Worship God and Jesus as Lord of all, every July 4th. Not eating Hot Dogs and drinking beer, while we blow stuff up. But the TRUE Freedom we all have as Americans, and the fact that God made this country the Greatest Country on the Planet because of it.

Now for the most obvious examples. The two Holidays that have nothing to do, with anything but, Jesus Himself. Easter is all about His ultimate gift to us. His laying down His life for us. Yet rather His Resurrection from the Grave.
"The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre. So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre. And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in. Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie," {John20:1-6}
You know the rest of the story. Jesus was risen from the Grave and appeared onto the Disciples. However, although there is a Peter in the current Easter Story, it is not the same Peter. No, our new Peter has a fluffy white tail. He is a giant Bunny, hopping down the Bunny Trail, bring colored eggs and Chocolate to all the kiddies.

But this is not the true meaning of Easter. It is all about Jesus. The greatest gift you will ever receive. The gift of forgiveness and Salvation. The gift of eternal life. He did all these things, and suffered all things, so that you can enter into Heaven. So that you will not die, but have everlasting life. He paid the ultimate price so you do not have to. The greatest and final sacrifice, ever.

Yet? We turned Him into a Bunny. Just like the next and most obvious example, Christmas, Easter has another more sinister component to it..

Ah, Christmas. Tis the season. The Birth of our Lord and Savor. Is it not? Jingle Bells, White Christmas, Rudolf. Don't forget Frosty. "Daddy? Daddy? Dad? Daddy? Mommy? Mom? Mommy? Can I have this {This year's must have} for Christmas? I really want it. I need it. All my friends have it. Please? Please? Pretty please? I love you. Can I? Can I? Mommy? Daddy? PLEASE?!?!?"

So what do you do? You save up some money. You go out on Black Friday and stand in line at 3 am. You fight the crowds. You go through all this and turn the corner. Then there is this Ahhh Moment. There it is. Glowing brighter than anything. The gift. The thing your child wants more than anything in the world. The gift that will change their lives. The gift that will make you the Hero. It is done.

We tell our kids that if they are really good, Santa, that big fat guy in a red suit, who fly around in a sled pulled by flying Reindeer, will come into their home while they sleep, and leave presents under the tree. You put out cookies and milk. You may even go outside and leave tracks in the snow, and sled marks. You lose sleep bring in the Gifts from their hiding spots when the kiddies go to sleep.

Now think about this. You LIE to your Children. You LIE to them during their most formidable years. About 90 percent of a Child's Brain develops in the time from birth to age 5. According to studies, 85 percent of a Child's Intellect, Personality, and even Social Skills, are developed by that age. What are you doing? LYING to them.

You tell them that a big fat guy in a red suit, who watches them all year, writes down all the good and bad they do. Then, one day a year, if they are good, he goes all around the world and delivers their heart's desire. That he and a bunch of magic Elves make all the toys they could ever dream up. You tell them this every year. They have evidence that this is all real. The bitten Cookie. The drank Milk. The fact every store they go into Santa is right there. He is even on the Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Then, for some that want their kids to learn the true meaning of Christmas, they take them to Church one or two days a year. The Pastor or Preacher, tells them about Jesus. Now think about this. From a a Child's mind. They know their name. They know 2+2=4. They know their colors, numbers, they know things that Mommy and Daddy tell them is absolute truth. They also "know" Santa, the Easter Bunny, and even the Tooth Fairy are real. So they hear about a guy, who came to earth 2000 years ago and did things they can not comprehend yet, and think, that's nice. But I really hope Santa brings me that new thing.

To my surprise, it really is not the Commercialization of the Holidays that is to blame for Thanksgiving being all but forgotten. Since Thanksgiving is the second most profitable Holiday, it does not make since. So what is the reason?

They have not found a way to corrupt it. Think about that. Christmas, Santa. Easter, the Bunny. Thanksgiving? Who are we giving thanks to? God. Who can replace God? No one. We come together with family and friends, break bread, and give thanks to?? God. No Turkey in a red suit. No Turkey hoping down the Turkey Trail. No Turkey shooting arrows. There is no reason to Honor a Turkey. So how do you corrupt a Holiday that has nothing to do with nothing BUT Giving Thanks? Try to get as many people as possible to simply stop participating. Just go from the Darkness Holiday, directly to the fat guy in the red suit.

There really is a far more sinister reason the Holidays are the way they are. All though all that money DOES Play a part, that is not the reason. No Children of God, it is the removing of God from everything. Everything from the Holidays to Daily Life. Once they find a way to corrupt Thanksgiving, they will do that too.

Never forget Child of God, try as hard as they may, they really cannot remove God. For God is in everything. Yes, that includes the Holidays. Make sure that you remember that. Look at the Holidays in a God perspective, and you will find the true meaning..

Do you know Jesus as your Savior? Have you been adopted into the Family of God? If not, say this Prayer. Right now. Wherever you may be. Say it in your own words, and do not doubt in your heart. God will hear you. He will send the Spirit of Life to you. Let us Pray..

"Oh heavenly Father, Lord God. I am a sinner. I know this. I know there is nothing I can do to change that. But I know you can. I accept Jesus's sacrifice for me. I repent my sins. Please send the Spirit of Adoption into my life. Help me to get to know the real you. Save me. Please. In the name of Jesus, Amen!"

That's it. It really is that simple. Now go tell someone what you have just done. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." {Romans 10:9} You need to find a Church that God leads you to, and be Baptized the way Jesus said to be. You are now a Child of God. A new Creature. You "have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him." {Colossians 3:10}

Pride Of The Chosen. Serve

To serve or be served? That is the question.

We have discussed Being Chosen by God. When God chooses you, he lifts you out of the world. He justifies you. He equips you with the Anointing and Power. He changes you into a new creature. You become a Child of God. Now wait. Do you know what this actually means?

Being a Child of God means we are "then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ." We are now Royalty. We are Princes and Princesses of Heaven. The Creator of all, The God of Gods, The Great "I Am," is now our Daddy. We are so high above the World now, we can barely see it. All those that are out there, that know not God, or, refuse to accept Christ, are nothing more than a bunch of Ants running around doing their Ant stuff. Remember what Jesus said to the one that wanted to go bury his Father?
"Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God." {Luke 9:60}
We are so far above all this, it is not even fair. Now that is something to be Proud of. But be careful. Do not become Prideful.

We talked about if we are Obedient, God will Bless us in all things and in all ways.
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."{Romans 8:28}
Now that is something to be Proud of. But be careful. Do not become Prideful.

So we are so far above everyone else, Chosen, Blessed above all others, equipped, Anointed, filled with power, and God is our Daddy. We should be Kings on this Earth. These Ants should be serving us. We are so much greater than them. Right? Wrong..
"But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many." {Matthew 20:25-28}
Remember, when Jesus came to John to be Baptized, John said NO WAY!!!
"But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him." {Matthew 3:14-17}
Then when Jesus came to Peter to wash his feet, Peter Said NO WAY!!!!
"He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.

Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.

Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head."
{John 13:4-9}
See, in the World, those with Power and Authority, sit in Positions, to allow others to serve them. Jesus even acknowledges this. However, Jesus IS our example of how we should live our lives..
"For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth." {Luke 22:27}
Think about this. Here is Jesus, the King of kings, and the Lord of Lords, The Word of God that became flesh and dwelt among us {John 1:14}, who at anytime could have called upon "more than twelve legions of angels" {Matthew 26:53} to wipe us all out, and save Himself from the torture and death that awaited Him. Yet He CHOSE to willing walk to it all, and lay down His life for us all.

Why? Because we earned it? Because we worked so hard? Because we were worthy? Nope. He did so while we were yet Sinners.
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." {Romans 5:8}
Jesus is the ultimate example. He did not just tell us to serve others. He demonstrated it. He served us so we would serve others. After washing His Disciples feet, He told us this..
"When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet" {John 13:12-14}
Do you think that God gave you those gifts He gave you for your benefit? NO! He gave them to you to sever others..
"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen." {1 Peter 4:10-11}
We were Chosen. We received Gifts, Anointing, Power. We have become Children of God. We are ABOVE all others in this World. We ARE Free. However, even in this Freedom, we should use it to serve..
"For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”" {Galatians 5:13-14}
When you realize, who you are, and the Gifts you have, it is easy to become Prideful. When you read The Word, and become filled with the Wisdom of God, which makes the wisdom of the World foolishness, it is easy to become Prideful. When man-made Traditions, called Religion, seek to place you in a position of Authority, it is easy to become Prideful. But be careful not to forget, Jesus Himself came here to serve us. What are you doing?

Are you attempting to lord over others, or are you attempting to be a teller of Truth, Sower of the Seed, a Shower of the Way? Are you serving others, or attempting to be "in charge." Are you telling people about God, or do you think you ARE God. Be very careful Child of God. Become great, in the Kingdom, by serving others. Never forget what it is all about.

That's it. It really is that simple. Now go tell someone what you have just done. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." {Romans 10:9} You need to find a Church that God leads you to, and be Baptized the way Jesus said to be. Psalm 16

1 Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.

2 O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;

3 But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.

4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.

5 The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.

6 The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.

7 I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.

8 I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Pride of the Chosen Obedience

Where is my Power and Authority over Sin and Adversity?

The Word declares that I am special. That I am unique. That I have come out from the World. That I am a Child of God. The Word declares that....
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."{Romans 8:28}
The Word tells us that we are filled with the Spirit of God and that NOTHING can harm us. The Word tells us how the Disciples had all this power over evil spirits and was able to do all these things. Where is MY power? I read things like this...
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." {Matthew 7: 7-8}
And again,
"And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it." {John 14:13-14}
However, I'm still hurting. I asked for a new car, for mine was running rough. It died. I asked for a raise or promotion on my Job because my pay is not paying the bills. I get laid off. I asked for a million dollars so I no longer have to suffer, yet I'm worse off than I was before. I Prayed for a sick Relative, they died. I'm starting to think this is all BS. There is no God, and if there is, He sure doesn't love me. Can you explain this?

The question is not, is The Word truthful and correct? The question is, are you being obedient? Notice all those in the Bible you read about. Moses Parting the Sea and all the things he did. David slew Goliath. Chains fell, and cell doors opened, and Paul walked out. There are amazing stories of supernatural and clear interceding of God all throughout the Bible. So why not you?

Notice the one thing they all have in common. Not just these examples, but EVERY time we see this sort of thing, what are they doing? They are serving GOD. Not themselves. Of my Children, one decides to go off on their own. Live their life the way they see fit. My other Son and Daughter stay home with me. Now the one Son who stays home with me helps an old lady cross the street. He says to me, "Daddy. I helped an old lady cross the street. I really liked helping her. I want to do more. However, the traffic is horrendous. Can you please get me one of those bright yellow or orange vests so that they can see me better?" Of course. You will have it today.

My Daughter says "Daddy, I am helping out in a food pantry. However, I noticed that they are a bit short of supplies. I want to have a fundraiser to help raise funds to supply some much needed food and supplies. Can you help?" Of course. We will have a Car Wash, Bake Sale, or something to that effect. I may even help and pitch in with some funds of my own.

Now the Son that left calls on me and says "Daddy, I'm on the street and there is this new drug. Can you send me some money so I can try it?" Or, Daddy, "I'm not going to come home. I'm not going to follow your rules. But I have spent all I have. Can you please send me more money?" My response? My Son, I love you. I'm here. You have been told that if you stay under my authority {My roof} you can have anything you ask. But you chose to go off on your own. You chose to live the way you are living.You walked away. I cannot help you. I will not assist you in destroying yourself.

Come home and I will restore you as my Son with full privileges. "No Father. I'm not my Brother. I do not feel I have to do the things he does or the things you say. I'm my own person and I will make my own choices. I guess you lied. You said you love me. You don't love me. I'm never going to follow what you say." My Son, I am here. You are there. The choice is yours to make.

You see, Moses would most likely never have even gone to the Sea, if he was not leading God's People out of Egypt. David would not have killed Goliath, if he was not in the fight. Paul would not have even been in Prison if he was not serving God. They did these things, and these things happen to them, because they were being obedient to God.

If I tell my Son, go across the Water to the other side and cut our Neighbors grass, for she is elderly, and he says "yes Father, I will go," I will supply the Boat. When he gets there he sees the Grass is three feet high. "Daddy, I got here, but the Grass is too high. I do not know if I can cut it with my little push mower." I say, Do not worry my Son, I have arranged for a Tractor to be there for you to use.

Now would I give my children a Boat, if there was no reason? Would I have arranged a Tractor, if my Son was not in need of it? My Son received these "gifts" because he was in need of them, to complete what I asked him to do. Because he was obedient in doing what I asked him to do.

Remember Romans 8?
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."{Romans 8:28}
Notice that last part. "to them who are the called according to his purpose." To WHO'S purpose? HIS. GOD. Not yours. It does not say "We know that all things work together for good, for ourselves, to do whatsoever we will." It says "to them who are the called according to his purpose."
"And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it." {John 14:13-14}
Why? "that the Father may be glorified in the Son." Would it glorify God for you to hit the Lotto, buys stuff, and sit back in ease on a big pile of money? Would it glorify God for you to live in a big house, and drive a fancy Red Sports Car? Would it glorify God for you to get all you dream of, if all you dream of, have nothing to do with God?

What would happen, if I asked my Son to go and do this and he said no? I would have to send my other Son. Or, I would even send my Daughter. I would bless THEM to do what I asked them to do. Not my Son who disobeyed me. They would receive the blessings.

If God tells you to go from A to C, it does not matter what B may be. It does not matter if B is a mile long and a mile high. I doesn't matter how deadly B may be. B does not matter at all. God tells you to go from A to C, when you get to B, GOD will make the way clear. God will tear B down. God will split B apart. God will cast B into the Sea. You do not have to worry about anything. Just be faithful and continue on.
"Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him." {John 14:23}
If, Then. If, you walk in the Rain, Then, you will get wet. If, you stay inside, Then, you will stay dry. If, you touch the hot stove, Then, you will get burned. If, you do not touch the Hot stove, Then, you will not get burned. If, you call on the name of our Lord, Then, you will be Saved. If, you do not, Then, you are not Saved. If, Then.

God wants you to be humble. Loving. Trusting. Obedient. He wants to be able to say to you, go here and do this. He wants you to love Him with all you Heat, Mind, and Soul. He wants you to have the Faith of a Child, for Him, as that Child has with his earthly Father.

He wants to empower you. He wants to mold you into the person He wants you to be. But you need to forget about YOU and start thinking about Him.
"Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up." {James 4:10}
Remember that Passage we were talking about last time? When the Disciples returned and were rejoicing in and were overjoyed that even evil spirits were subject to them and their authority?
"And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven." {Luke 10:17-20}
What was the reason Jesus gave them all this power? Because He sent them out..
"After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves." {Luke 10:1-3}
So they were to go before Jesus, and tell them He was coming. Then Jesus told them this..
"And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you." {Luke 10:19}
You see, Jesus called them out for a very specific reason. Go before and tell them Jesus was coming, and to heal the sick. For this reason, Jesus equipped them with what they would need. "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." Jesus gave them the Power and Authority they needed for this very specific task. Would they have received this Power and Authority if He had not sent them out? Nope. It was because they were called out to do something, and they were obedient and did it.

When Pride started to creep in and they thought, "Hey, look what we can do." Jesus corrected them quickly.
"Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven."
We can fall into the trap. We have all this Power and Authority. In Religion, we grant people with Power and Authority. But it is not about us. It is never about us. It is always about being obedient to God and His Word. Are you being obedient?

That's it. It really is that simple. Now go tell someone what you have just done. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." {Romans 10:9} You need to find a Church that God leads you to, and be Baptized the way Jesus said to be. You are now a Child of God. A new Creature. You "have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him." {Colossians 3:10}

Pride Of The Chosen. Being Chosen

Do not fall into this Trap

It is really easy to become Proud. It is really easy to become Prideful. Whenever you become chosen out of the obscurity of mere existence, and become "important," Whenever you receive a Position of Power, or Authority, over others, it is really easy to become Arrogant and Abusive. Ask a Politician. Ask a CEO. Ask a "Superstar" in Sports or Entertainment. "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.". {John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton}

Lord Acton, expressed this opinion in a letter to Bishop Mandell Creighton in 1887. Some say he was attempting to quote William Pitt the Elder, Earl of Chatham and British Prime Minister from 1766 to 1778, who said something similar in a speech to the UK House of Lords in 1770, "Unlimited power is apt to corrupt the minds of those who possess it."

Oh it's easy to think about CEOs. It's easy to think about Politicians. The President, Kings, ETC. It's easy to think about the Rich having a "God Complex." Being filled with Pride and Boastful. But what about Children of God? What about God's Chosen people? This is what we will be talking about in this Three Part Series entitled, The Pride of the Chosen..

Today we are going to focus on what this means. What does it mean to be Chosen of God? Chosen BY God Himself. This is an awesome thing. Think about it. In the Span of eternity, in the history of the Earth, of all the Billions of people that have ever lived. People who do this type of Study claim the number is around 108 Billion people. How they know this? I have no idea, but this is a huge number. Out of those 108 Billion, and of all the people that have yet to come, there is only one YOU. There has never been, nor will there ever be, another you.

Why are you the way you are? God made you this way.
"For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!" {Psalm 139:13-17}
That's right, God MADE you the way you are. You are 6 feet tall, 5'7." You are Blonde with Blue Eyes, Brown Hair and Eyes. You are Black, White, Male, Female, whatever you are, you were written in God's Book, and "in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.."

Why? God knows you from the beginning of time. {Ephesians 1:4} He knows who you are before your Mommy and Daddy even meet.
"For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified." {Romans 8:29-30}
So out of all those 108 Billion, or so, people, before they were all born, lived, and died, God knew who you were and what you would do. He CHOSE to create YOU the way you are for a REASON. He foreknew you, and so He set up a Destiny. A purpose and a plan for your life.

Now this is where you come in. After He did all this, after you reach the age of accountability, and or, in His time, God calls you. Now He can call you as a Child, or He can call you as an old person. Age matters not when it comes to God. Look at Elizabeth and Zechariah. Both were well up in age, when God called them to give birth to and raise John the Baptist. The Twelve ranged from 24 to 33.

God can use Children, like the little Child Jesus called to Himself to give a lesson on humility and faith, or an old Man like Noah. It is God's Time and for God's Purpose that He calls you out. But this is where you come in. You can say "Yes" or "No."

If you say "Yes," then God Justifies you. This is a time of Preparation. A time when God equips you with the knowledge, Gifts, and tools, you will need to do whatever God needs you to do. Then comes the ultimate power and glory. He glorifies you.

Now something happens between the Call, and the equipping. We go from Joe Shmoe, to someone filled with the Spirit of God. Exuding Power and Anointing. Remember when the Disciples came back to Jesus all excited they had all this power?
"And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven." {Luke 10:17-20}
You see, Peter was a Fisherman. Matthew a Tax Collector and most likely not all that well liked. All the Disciples were normal, average, everyday people. Then all of a sudden, they were chosen by Jesus and giving all this power. They started to become arrogant. They started to become Prideful. Look what we can do.

Jesus had to remind them, that it is NOT because of all the power, nor is it because God chose them out to do these things, but rather that God chose them to be Saved, that they should rejoice and be happy. However, we have evidence that they still didn't get this.
"At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven." {Matthew 18:1-4}
You see, we think of being great as one with Power and control. God sees great as one who is obedient, and faithful in all things. He sees great as one, as a child towards their Parent, that question and doubt, NOTHING. They simply love, trust, and believe. They simply ARE Children. Pure and innocent..

We think of Great as Lording over others. That we should sit on a Throne and Rule. Salome, Mother of James and John, came to Jesus and asked Him to allow James to sit on a throne on one side, and John on the other. She wanted them in the Highest Positions in Heaven, after all, John is the "Disciple that Jesus Loved?" So it makes sense that He would want these two to Rule with Him. Right? As you could guess, this did not sit well with the other ten. "And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren." However, this is NOT as Jesus tells us, is the pathway to become great.
"But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many." {Matthew 20:25-28}
We will discuss this concept more in Part Three..The point is, we should rejoice in the Fact, in the mere Fact, that we were Chosen. God chose to call us out of the world and to join us with Jesus Himself. He chose us onto life itself. He chose us to be His own Children.
"And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together."{Romans 8:17}
We should remember where it is we came from. Where it is that we were heading to. We should remember that we are not worthy, nor is there anything we could ever do to become worthy, of being in the position God put us in. Making us equal to Jesus Himself.

We didn't earn it. We didn't impress Him so much He chose to "promote us." We didn't work hard enough. We did NOTHING. It is simply the Love of God that Saved us. His Grace, His Mercy. His love. In this we should not find Pride, but humility. In this we should not become arrogant, but compassionate. Think of all those that will never be where we are. Think of those that think they have it all, and in the end, will lose their very Soul. We would be with them, had it not be for the Love of God. In this rejoice, and be glad..

In Part Two, we will talk about why some seem to have all this Power, while yet others seem not to. Ever wonder why it seems that some people just have it a little easier, or seems like God Blesses them daily, and yet, you seem to have difficulties and struggles, even though you are a Child of God? How can Moses part the Red Sea, and you can not seem to get out of the pits of life? There is an answer.

Have you been called out? Do you feel that pull of the Spirit? That is God leading you to Jesus. That is God Choosing YOU. All you have to do is accept the call. Say "Yes." Get to know the Jesus God is leading you to..

Do you know Jesus as your Savior? Have you been adopted into the Family of God? If not, say this Prayer. Right now. Wherever you may be. Say it in your own words, and do not doubt in your heart. God will hear you. He will send the Spirit of Life to you. Let us Pray..

Psalm 46

1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

6 The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

7 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

8 Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth.

9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
