Unintentional Sins

Are you guilty even if you do not know?

We all know the big ten. Yup, the Ten Commandments. We all know what they are, and we all try to keep them. We know that God says we are guilty of Sin, if we violate them. They are...

1 Have no other God before God.
2 Do not commit Idolatry.
3 Do not take the name of the Lord in vain.
4 Remember the Sabbath and keep it Holy.
5 Honor your Father and Mother.
6 Do not Murder.
7 Do not commit Adultery.
8 Do not Steal.
9 Do not lie.
10 Do not Covet.

So if we keep these, we are then without Sin? Well???
"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." {1 John 1:8-10}
This is talking directly to Children of God. This is not talking about the Lost. It could be as simple as James tells us in this passage..
"Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin." {James 4:17}
What does that mean? Did you forgive someone that hurt you, mistreated you? Did you give that $5.00 in your Pocket to the beggar you just passed? You know that tug you got? Did you ignore it? Did you share the Gospel with someone you know desperately needs it? Did you pay your whole Tithe? Did you put that Pen in your pocket at work and bring it home? Did you share that juicy story you just heard about Jenny and the Boss? Did you observe the last Holy Day the way God tells us we should? We could go on and on.

"But I had no idea that was Sin. How am I supposed to know everything?" Sad and growing truth... "My Church does not teach THAT.." "I can't be held accountable for something I did not even know I was doing wrong."

Well, have you ever been driving down the road to find pretty lights flashing behind you. You pull over and the Police Officer says you were doing 80 in a 65. "I had no idea how fast I was going. I had no idea what the Speed Limit is on this road. I cannot be held accountable for this." The Police Officer will say what? "Ignorance of the Law is no excuse." He will give you a ticket. You will go to Court and plead your case... "I had no idea how fast I was going. I had no idea what the Speed Limit is on this road. I cannot be held accountable for this." The Judge will say.."Ignorance of the Law is no excuse." You will be found guilty..

God will hold you accountable for the Sins you commit. You can plead your case.."I had not idea that was Sin. So I can't be guilty of something I did not know was wrong.." God will say..."Ignorance of the Law is no excuse." If you are guilty, you are guilty. Period.

See, back in Old Testament times, God said this...
"And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a soul shall sin through ignorance against any of the commandments of the Lord concerning things which ought not to be done, and shall do against any of them:" {Leviticus 4:1-2}
Even unintentional Sin, Sin we did not even know was Sin, Sin that we commit daily, defiles us. So God tells Moses that we need purification. It goes on to tell us about the process and how the Priest should handle sacrifices for various things This was done every year.

However, NOW we have one High Priest that is above all others. He gave ONE Sacrifice, one FINAL Sacrifice, for us all...
"But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?"
{Hebrews 9:11-14}
Jesus died for us so that we would not die and be found guilty of our Sins. You see,
"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.." {Hebrews 9:27-28}
Thankfully we do not have to keep killing Sheep and Goats, Rams and Lambs. Thankfully, we do not have to do these things every year. Jesus came and did it once. He died, laid down His own life as the final and perfect Sacrifice for us all.

God is patient and kind above all, but Sin is Sin, and God judges Sin. God cannot overlook Unintentional Sin. That is why we must accept Jesus's perfect and final Sacrifice for us. This is why we must come to God, and ask for forgiveness.

God created a perfect world in which Mankind could live in peace and happiness all the days of his life. WE messed that up. It wasn't God. It was us. We accepted another way of life. We accepted Sin. So WE separated ourselves from God and the only way to be reconciled to God, is through Jesus..
"Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God." {2 Corinthians 5:20}
Without Jesus, you do not have the Spirit. Without the Spirit, you are walking in the Flesh. When we are walking in the flesh, we are doing the things of the flesh. If then we are doing the things of the flesh, we are Sinning against God.
"For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit." {Romans 8:5}
You cannot know the Mind of God. You cannot know His Will, His Plan, His Way. You cannot even know if what you are doing is Sin.
"Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God." {Romans 8:7-8}
We just got done talking about feeding your Spirit, and needing to fill your Spirit with the Word. However, even doing this daily, will not answer ALL things always. Even the greatest of all the Saints to ever walk the Earth, Sinned.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" {Romans 3:23}
It is only by the Blood of Christ, and the Grace of God, that we are forgiven. It doesn't matter if you know you have Sinned or can name the Sin. It doesn't matter how "Good" you try to be, or think you are. It doesn't matter who you are, where you are from, what faith you follow. You SIN. You were born into it. You live it. You will died in it. The only way to avoid the punishment we are owed, is by accepting Jesus's sacrifice and asking our Father for forgiveness. We will be accountable for our Sins. Yes, even the unintentional ones..

Do you know Jesus as your Savior? Have you been adopted into the Family of God? If not, say this Prayer. Right now. Wherever you may be. Say it in your own words, and do not doubt in your heart. God will hear you. He will send the Spirit of Life to you. Let us Pray..

"Oh heavenly Father, Lord God. I am a sinner. I know this. I know there is nothing I can do to change that. But I know you can. I accept Jesus's sacrifice for me. I repent my sins. Please send the Spirit of Adoption into my life. Help me to get to know the real you. Save me. Please. In the name of Jesus, Amen!"

That's it. It really is that simple. Now go tell someone what you have just done. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." {Romans 10:9} You need to find a Church that God leads you to, and be Baptized the way Jesus said to be. You are now a Child of God. A new Creature. You "have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him." {Colossians 3:10}

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen. {2 Corinthians 13}

Until next time, be Blessed, be a Blessing, and Jesus IS Lord..
