Colossians Chapter Four

 Chapter Four

Masters, treat your bondservants justly and fairly, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.

Further Instructions

1 Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. 3 At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison— 4 that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.

5 Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. 6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

Final Greetings

7 Tychicus will tell you all about my activities. He is a beloved brother, a faithful minister, and a fellow servant in the Lord. 8 I have sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are and that he may encourage your hearts, 9 and with him Onesimus, our faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They will tell you of everything that has taken place here.

10 Aristarchus, my fellow prisoner, greets you, and Mar,k the cousin of Barnabas (concerning whom you have received instructions—if he comes to you, welcome him), 11 and Jesus who is called Justus. These are the only men of the circumcision among my fellow workers for the kingdom of God, and they have been a comfort to me. 12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ Jesus, greets you, always struggling on your behalf in his prayers, that you may stand mature and fully assured in all the will of God. 13 For I bear him witness that he has worked hard for you and for those in Laodicea and in Hierapolis. 14 Luke, the beloved physician, greets you, as does Demas. 15 Give my greetings to the brothers at Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church in her house. 16 And when this letter has been read among you, have it also read in the church of the Laodiceans; and see that you also read the letter from Laodicea. 17 And say to Archippus, “See that you fulfill the ministry that you have received in the Lord.”

18 I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. Remember my chains. Grace be with you.

A Saint's Prayer, Part Five

 Jesus, aka Word of God, Over The World.

Today, we wrap up our current series, “A Saint’s Prayer.” We are in Psalm 25. We will be picking up on Verse 14. Let us pray.

Father, Lord God. We come before you today with praise and thanksgiving for all that you have done, from life itself to life everlasting. We thank you for the ability to come together in your name and to learn from your Word. Your Word declares, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” We ask you to be here. We ask you to show us your mysteries. We ask you for eyes to see, ears to hear, and a spirit to receive, not only to understand but to fully comprehend your Truth and your revelations as we finish in Psalm 25. In the name of Jesus, Amen!

Ok, now we continue in verse 14
“The friendship of the LORD is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant.”
Notice, it does not say all, as in we are all God’s children. We are not. It says, “The friendship of the LORD is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant.”
“My eyes are ever toward the LORD, for he will pluck my feet out of the net.”
He saved us while we were in the middle of our sin, and in the net, or snares of the devil, about to be destroyed.
“Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. The troubles of my heart are enlarged; bring me out of my distresses. Consider my affliction and my trouble, and forgive all my sins.”
Again, David is not blaming anyone here. Not God. Not the devil. Not the fact that he “was not hugged as a child.” Not that he believed society. Not anyone’s fault, be his. He takes full ownership of his sins.
“Consider how many are my foes, and with what violent hatred they hate me. Oh, guard my soul, and deliver me! Let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in you. May integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for you. Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles. Psalm 25:14-22
Notice he is not asking for the world to change. He is asking for him to be changed. For him to be saved. He is asking God, not man. Not seeking answers in the world. He is asking God,
“That the LORD your God may show us the way we should go, and the thing that we should do."Jeremiah 42:3
Say “God knows.” In the very first psalm, David wrote this.
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”
Why? Because God. Say “Because God.”

“The wicked.” You could even substitute “The world.”
“are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore, the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.” Psalm 1:1-6
Say “God knows.” In John 16:1-4, Jesus tells us Himself.
"I have said all these things to you to keep you from falling away. They will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God. And they will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me. But I have said these things to you, that when their hour comes, you may remember that I told them to you. "I did not say these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you.”
God will tell us what is going on. He will tell us His wisdom and His ways. The world cannot nor will it ever hear God. But we can, and do. Why? “God knows.” “Because God.” The world has become so arrogant that it actually celebrates self and pride.
“But he gives more grace. Therefore, it says, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.” James 4:6-10
Forget what the world says is right and wrong. Forget what the world says about, well, pretty much anything. The world, and the proud, the evil, and all without God, will perish. We, the Children of God, will not. Why seek answers from something that is doomed to destruction? What sense does that make?

The world is enmity to God. Those of the world are enemies of God. They are those of hate. You know, I have been VERY cautious of saying this. I have been very hesitant to talk about it. I have even been unsure of how I felt about it. At least for today. Demon possession.

You know, every time I turn on the TV or the internet, I see “Demon Hunters.” No, not the Anemi, or the band, I’m talking about those who CLAIM to be true and real life Exortists. Ever see these people? They go around the world and “Cast out demons” from all sorts of people. Sometimes the acting is SO VERY BAD that it is actually somewhat comical.

The “possessed person” rolls around and jerks and swears, talking gibberish. The Exotorist yelling Bible verses, and may even roll their eyes and put on quite the show. I have always been skeptical of these things. Most who do this do not ever believe in or even understand who God really is. If they ran across a real demon, that demon would eat them for lunch. So to speak.

I started watching other people, going out and preaching the Word to people at Pride events, abortion clinics, or just in the street, and I started to notice a trend. Homosexuals, Transgender, and “confused, I mean non binary,” which is not a thing, people will not debate, or even talk to the people preaching. They identify as “They” and then what? Start barking.

I kid you not. Look it up. Weirdly dressed, what appear to be mentally deranged people, barking at the street preacher. The only thing I can say about that is they sure do look demon-possessed. This is what the world wants us to celebrate? Teaching our kids that they are heroes and so brave if they decide to do this?

Look, as time passes, this situation is likely to worsen. There is currently a movement within the Islamic faith where pedophilia is already considered permissible. Grown adults engaging in sexual activities with minors. Some groups want to classify pedophilia as a protected category. One notable example is B4U-ACT. The group claims to assist mental health professionals and researchers in understanding attraction to minors, but critics argue it supports “affirmative MAP therapy,” which presents pedophilic desires as an inherent and acceptable part of identity rather than a harmful paraphilia.

Then you have sociologist Allyn Walker, have argued that attraction to minors should not be judged as immoral, focusing instead on behavior rather than desire. These efforts are part of a larger trend in some academic and advocacy circles to reframe pedophilia as a “sexual age orientation” rather than a disorder, drawing comparisons to how homosexuality was once redefined in the 20th century. Which is something I and many others argued would happen once you open the door to Gay Marriage.

This is the world. This is who you want to learn right and wrong from? Look here in 1 Peter 5:6-11
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen."
This is what David is praying. A Saints Prayer. We can pray this as well. If you want to do it word-for-word, every now and then, do it. If you want to, like the “Our Father” prayer, use it as a formula, changing it into your own words, do it. Here it is in total.
“To you, O LORD,
I lift up my soul.

O my God, in you I trust;
let me not be put to shame;
Let not my enemies exult over me.

Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame;
They shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous.

Make me know your ways,
O LORD, teach me your paths.

Lead me in your truth and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
For you, I wait all day long.

Remember your mercy,
O LORD, and your steadfast love,
for they have been from of old.

Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
According to your steadfast love, remember me,
for the sake of your goodness, O LORD!

Good and upright is the LORD;
Therefore, he instructs sinners in the way.

He leads the humble in what is right,
and teaches the humble his way.

All the paths of the LORD are steadfast love and faithfulness,
for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.

For your name's sake, O LORD, pardon my guilt, for it is great.
Who is the man who fears the LORD?
He will instruct in the way that he should choose.

His soul shall abide in well-being,
And his offspring shall inherit the land.

The friendship of the LORD is for those who fear him,
And he makes known to them his covenant.

My eyes are ever toward the LORD,
for he will pluck my feet out of the net.

Turn to me and be gracious to me,
for I am lonely and afflicted.

The troubles of my heart are enlarged;
bring me out of my distress.

Consider my affliction and my trouble,
and forgive all my sins.

Consider how many are my foes,
And with what violent hatred they hate me.

Oh, guard my soul, and deliver me!
Let me not be put to shame,
for I take refuge in you.

May integrity and uprightness preserve me,
for I wait for you.

Redeem Israel,
O God, out of all his troubles.”
Are you a Saint? Would you like to be? Simply "That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, You shall be saved." Romans 10:9.

Colossians Chapter 3

 Chapter 3

1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

7 In which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God;

23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

A Saint's Prayer, Part Four

 Know The Way

We are currently going through a Saint’s Prayer. We are in Psalm 25 if you want to turn there. We ended last time at verse 9. We will pick up at verse 10. Amen? Let us pray.

Heavenly Father, Lord God, we come before you with thanksgiving and love to you for all that you have given us. From the greatest to the smallest, even to the unknown. We thank you for your Grace and mercy and ask that you forgive us of our sins and stupidities. Father, as we enter into your word, we pray for eyes to see, ears to hear, and the Spirit to reveal your great mysteries. May your word feed our spirit as the food you bless us with feeds our bodies. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Ok, Psalm 25:10
“All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. For thy name's sake, O LORD, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.

What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way [that] he shall choose. His soul shall dwell at ease, and his seed shall inherit the earth.”
How do we know the way? How do we know how to live according to God and His will? Obviously this. (Holding up the Bible.) Without this, what do we truly have as a moral compass? What does the world decide is right and wrong? That changes all the time. Not this. Not God.

Without the Word of God, we could never know this.
“Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
What does the world say He is? A prophet. A teacher, A good man. Oh, that may not have even existed. With all the writings, extraneous to the bible, that say Jesus was real, and He existed, that argument is void. But what do we say He is? He is the Christ. The Word of God in the flesh. He says He is the great “I Am.” God.

How do we know?
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm119:105
Simply put, we know the way, because He is the Way. Jesus is our salvation and our Lord. How do we get to know the real Him? This. Talk to Him. Ask Him questions. Read His Word.

God says:
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
We cannot possibly know what God is thinking, unless He tells us. Look here, in Isaiah 55:6-9
"Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.”
Stop. Remember, God is being patient. He is not coming back to destroy the world as we know it until He gives as many a choice to be saved as possible. Remember,
“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9

“Not wishing that ANY should perish, but that ALL should reach repentance.” The next time someone tells you that God is evil and waiting to throw you in hell for the littlest slip-up. Tell them this, back to Isaiah.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
We cannot know God’s thoughts or His plans, not even for us, because our puny little minds cannot even comprehend. We need to ask Him.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” James 1:5
For those of you who feel you are not worthy to hear God speak, understand that you are His child. Oh yes. He IS the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, and The Great I am. But He is also now your Abba Father. He sees us as such. He calls us as such. He said this.
“And said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3
Why?
“Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” And he laid his hands on them and went away.” Matthew 19:13-15
I’ve used this analogy before, but it really does apply here. I have four children. Well, two adults and two children. But at one time, they were little too. I have always taken this passage to heart.
“Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.” Matthew 5:37
If they ask me for something, or I tell them something, they have no doubts whatsoever. It will happen. Why “Daddy said so.” If I told them, which I never would have, of course, but if I told them to go on the roof, and jump off, and they would soar to the sky like the Angels, guess what? I would have a lot of explaining to do to the Police when they come to take me away. They would take that leap of faith for no other reason than “Daddy said so.”

This is the kind of relationship God wants to have with us. God said. It is so. Why? “Daddy said so.” I am forgiven. “Daddy said so.” I am a new creature. “Daddy said so.” I am not a child of God. “Daddy said so.”I will leave this earth one day, and I will go to be with Him. Why? How am I so sure? “Daddy said so.”

This is why He gave us His Word. So we can learn. His way is the only way. The best way. Simply put, THE Way. Oh, as a side note. This passage;
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2
“So great a cloud of witnesses,”
is not talking about Angels watching us 24/7 as some suggest. I will even admit I thought this way, too. This is not the case. That’s a common thought, and it’s easy to see why. The imagery of a "cloud" and "witnesses" certainly has a celestial, angelic vibe. However, in the context of the Bible, specifically Hebrews 12:1, these "witnesses" are generally understood to be human, not angelic.

Here is the breakdown of who they are and why the distinction matters: Who are the Witnesses? The "cloud of witnesses" refers back to the people listed in the previous chapter, Hebrews 11 (often called the "Hall of Faith"). This list includes figures like:

Noah, Abraham, and Sarah
Moses and Rahab
Gideon, David, and many others who suffered for their faith.

Why "Witnesses"? The term doesn't necessarily mean they are "spectators" looking down from heaven like fans in a stadium, though many people find comfort in that interpretation. In the original Greek, the word used is martys, from which we get the word martyr.

It carries two main meanings:

1 - Their Testimony: They are witnesses in a legal sense. Their lives "testify" or prove that living by faith is possible and worth it.

2 - Their Presence: Because they have already finished their "race," they serve as an encouragement to those still running.

This is also a call to action. The verse encourages believers to "throw off everything that hinders" and to run with perseverance. This implies that, inspired by the examples of those who have gone before, we should actively work to remove obstacles in our spiritual lives and remain focused on our faith journey.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
Believe it or not, He does know better than us. He is smarter than Us, and if we are called according to His purpose? Romans 8:28. Say it with me.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
We will wrap up this series next week with Part Five. What do we have so far? David praises God. Then he asked for Truth, and discernment of Truth. He was seeking God. Asking God. Not man. He acknowledged he was a sinner and asked forgiveness for his sins. Then He asked God to show him God’s way. So far
“Psalm Of David. To you, O LORD, I lift my soul. O my God, in you I trust; let me not be put to shame; let not my enemies exult over me.

Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame; they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous. Make me know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.

Remember your mercy, O LORD, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old. Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love, remember me, for the sake of your goodness, O LORD!

Good and upright is the LORD; therefore, he instructs sinners in the way. He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way. All the paths of the LORD are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies. For your name's sake, O LORD, pardon my guilt, for it is great.

Who is the man who fears the LORD? He will be instructed in the way that he should choose. His soul shall abide in well-being, and his offspring shall inherit the land.”
Next time, we will wrap it up with Psalm 25:14-22, Jesus, aka Word of God, over the world.

Colossains Chapter 2

 Chapter 2

1 For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you and for those at Laodicea and for all who have not seen me face to face, 2 that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God's mystery, which is Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 4 I say this in order that no one may delude you with plausible arguments. 5 For though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the firmness of your faith in Christ.

Alive in Christ

6 Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, 7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. 11 In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.

Let No One Disqualify You

16 Therefore, let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. 17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. 18 Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind, 19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.

20 If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations— 21 “Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” 22 (referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings? 23 These have an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.

A Saint's Prayer Part three.

 Asking Forgiveness

We are currently doing an in-depth study of Psalm 25, looking at it for what it is—a Saint’s Prayer. Don’t worry if you missed any; you can always go to the archives, and we will wrap it up in the end. Today we will be going through Psalm 25: 6-9. Let us pray.

Father, we come before you today with thanksgiving for all that you have given us, continue to give us, and your Word declares you always will. Blessings we cannot even count. As we enter into your Word today, we ask for eyes to see, ears to hear, and a spirit to receive your truth and revelations. Help us to understand you better, grow closer, and be strong in our faith through your Word. We ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen!

Psalm 25:6-7
“Remember your mercy, O LORD, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old. Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for the sake of your goodness, O LORD!.”
We all sin. Say “all.” This means me, you, them, and everyone else that ever has, or will, walk this earth, save one. His name is Jesus. Look here.
“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:8-9
This is one of those things that unbelievers LOVE to attempt to use to discredit or defect any judgment of sin. “Oh, it must be great to be sinnless.” “So you never sin, right?” “Well, you know what Jesus says, ‘He without sin cast the first stone.” No, this is not the truth. The truth is what? ALL have sinned.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23
There is that word again. All. Look at those passages again. King David is asking for forgiveness. Did he think he was sinless?

He is asking for forgiveness. We actually have an advantage over King David. We have Jesus. We have the Grace of God through Jesus Christ. We are forgiven, and our sins forgotten through grace.
“For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person--though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die-- but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.” Romans 5:6-9
Jesus came and became the final sacrifice.
“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24
Now, does this fact mean we have a licence to sin? I mean, Jesus died and paid the price for all. And I have been taught once saved always saved, so all I have to do is say I accept Jesus, and I can live however I choose. Right? Wrong. Do not be taken in by false doctrine, no matter how great it may sound.
“For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.” Hebrews 6:4-6
If you have truly been saved, you will not continue to willfully sin. Repent means to turn away. To stop sinning and start following.

Back to David’s prayer.
“Good and upright [is] the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way. The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.”
Remember, we did nothing to receive salvation. We did nothing to even try to repent. We were in the middle of our sins when Jesus died on our behalf. Romans 3:21-25
“But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe.”
Wait. There is that word again. All. Say “all.”
“For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
We have been taught a lot; however, keep reading.
“and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.” Romans 3:21-25
We have Jesus. We are “justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” Again, does this mean we do not sin? Of course not. However, it does mean God can and will discipline His children.
“And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? "My son, do not regard the discipline of the Lord lightly, nor be weary when reproved by him. For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives." Hebrews 12:5-6
We are not on our way to Hell anymore. But be careful. Like an earthly father who loves his children, God loves us. Does that mean we can do whatever? Of course not. Remember, David was what? "a man after God's own heart." David sought to align his life with God's commands and was quick to repent when he sinned. He demonstrated unwavering reliance on God rather than on his own strength.

While David is celebrated for his heart for God, he also faced moral failures, illustrating the complexity of his character. He lusted, coveted, committed adultery, and murder. Was it all ok with God? No. It cost David dearly. Do you think you can do whatever you want and all is ok because you said a prayer ten years ago, but never changed? Sorry, that is not the way it works.

Why did Jesus come to die?
“It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” Romans 3:26
Jesus is our redeemer. He is our Savior. He is our advocate, and HE is LORD. We have an in. We have a justification for the ability to walk into the Throne room of God boldly, and be “sinless” because Jesus covered the cost.

So to recap so far, Psalm 25
“To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul.
O my God, in you I trust; let me not be put to shame;
Let not my enemies exult over me.

Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame;
They shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous.
Make me know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths.

Lead me in your truth and teach me,
For you are the God of my salvation;
For you, I wait all day long.
Remember your mercy, O LORD,
and your steadfast love,
for they have been from of old.

Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
According to your steadfast love, remember me,
For the sake of your goodness, O LORD!

Good and upright is the LORD;
Therefore, he instructs sinners in the way."
David first praises God. Then he asked for Truth, and discernment of Truth. He was seeking God. Asking God. Not man. He acknowledged he was a sinner and asked forgiveness for his sins. He even took the Word of God into account when he asked God to forgive his sins.

He knew that the Torah taught that forgiveness is based on sincere repentance rather than the mere absence of sin. It commands confession and repentance, indicating that acknowledging one's wrongdoings is essential for atonement.

Before Jesus, God's forgiveness is portrayed as a merciful act, but it is not unconditional; genuine remorse is required. The concept of atonement is central to Jewish teachings, focusing on the importance of recognizing and regretting one's actions.

As I said before, we have an advantage. We have Jesus.

Colossians Chapter 1

 Chapter 1

Greeting

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,

2 To the saints and faithful brothers in Christ at Colossae:

Grace to you and peace from God our Father.

Thanksgiving and Prayer

3 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, 4 since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints, 5 because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel, 6 which has come to you, as indeed in the whole world it is bearing fruit and increasing—as it also does among you, since the day you heard it and understood the grace of God in truth, 7 just as you learned it from Epaphras our beloved fellow servant. He is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf 8 and has made known to us your love in the Spirit.

9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. 13 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

The Preeminence of Christ

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.

21 And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, 22 he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.

Paul's Ministry to the Church

24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church, 25 of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known, 26 the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. 27 To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. 28 Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. 29 For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.

A Saints Prayer Part Two

Ask God, not Man

We are currently going through David’s prayer as depicted in Psalm 25. Last time we went through this.

"To you, O LORD, I lift my soul. O my God, in you I trust; let me not be put to shame; let not my enemies exult over me. Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame; they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous."
We talked about recognizing God as God and being in total control. We talked about praying for Truth and discernment of Truth. Today, we will pick up on Verse 4. Let us pray

Father, we come before you with thanksgiving and praise for all you have given us. We know that you are still in charge even though the world grows darker. Our faith is in you. As we re-enter your Word, we pray for eyes to see, ears to hear, and a spirit to receive what you want us to know. We ask and thank you for all in Jesus’ name, Amen.

OK, so we are in Psalm 25, start at verse 4
“Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.”
King David began his prayer, and you will see a trend, if you will, by recognizing God and His authority over all. He recognized that God's truth is far greater than man’s, and he prayed for discernment. Now he is asking god, as we just did, not in the same words, but for eyes to see. He prayed,
“Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths.”
This is not a new prayer. Turn to Exodus 33:13
"Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me your ways, that I may know you to find favor in your sight. Consider, too, that this nation is your people."
Moses prayed this. King David prayed this. Look how King Solomon prayed this.
“And Solomon said, “You have shown great and steadfast love to your servant David my father, because he walked before you in faithfulness, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart toward you. And you have kept for him this great and steadfast love and have given him a son to sit on his throne this day.”
Which is Solomon.
“And now, O Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of David my father, although I am but a little child. I do not know how to go out or come in. And your servant is in the midst of your people, whom you have chosen, a great people, too many to be numbered or counted for multitude.”
King David has died, and Solomon is now in his place. He is very intimidated by this great responsibility and wants to do the best he can, so he asked God.
“Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?”
If you know the story, God was impressed by this and made Solomon the wisest, richest, most powerful King in history. Now we can have a better understanding when we read Proverbs, like this one.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
 In all your ways acknowledge him,
 and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
This is exactly what God did for Solomon, because Solomon did this.

God explained to Isaiah, and to us, this fact.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.: Isaiah 55:8-9
There is little to no way, no possibility, no capability, for our little human brain to even fully comprehend God, Truth, reality, or even ourselves. Why are we even here? What is God, and where did He come from? What truly awaits after? Forget about after, what about tomorrow? Later today?

What plans does God have for us? How should we go? Some have this false sense of entitlement to a nice, enriched, problem-free life because we accepted Jesus. Not only is this naive, but completely oppositeite of reality.

This is why Jesus told us this.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. "Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:33-34
We have no idea what tomorrow will bring.
“Come now, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit’-- yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.

Instead, you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that." As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.“ James 4:13-17
Again, we do not know what tomorrow will bring, how it will come, or how we should even respond to it. God does. Jesus does. God is already there waiting on you. But what if what comes is bad? “Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

What if I lose my job, house, or a loved one? What happens if I find out bad news from a Doctor? What happens if???

STOP!
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
 Not everything in life is rosy. Not everything in life is easy. There is a storm coming. A storm just passed. Perhaps you are in a storm right now.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
Remember this.
“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”
That is a hard lesson for some. It truly is. With us alone, of course, we will not stand. We will buckle and bow to the trial or tribulation. We will be lost and confused. Not with God.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” James 1:2-5”
God knows what is ahead. God knows what we will face. God knows how we may better serve someone else. We go through our days at the speed of life, without slowing down to even take a look around. That does not serve God well. It does not benefit us well either. We miss so very many things.

So let's recap. So far, the Prayer Goes like this.
“To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul. O my God, in you I trust; let me not be put to shame; let not my enemies exult over me. Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame; they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous. Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.”
Next time, we will continue with this.

PART 3

Asking Forgiveness
“Remember, O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they [have been] ever of old. Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O LORD.”
Along with the fact that we are forgiven, and our sins are forgotten through grace
“Good and upright [is] the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way. The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.”
Won’t you join us? Remember, if you miss anything or want to learn more, there is a VAST archive right here at TAG.

Remember, you should always ask God, not man. Oh, it is ok to ask an elder or Pastor something in the Word. It is ok to research and look up information. However, to be the most accurate and to cut down on misinformation, pray first. Let God give you the answers He wants you to know.

Then and only then, will you learn and fully understand that God has always been, is now, and will always be, in charge of, well, everything! Everything. Nothing catches God off guard. Nothing is too big for God. Ultimately, it is God you will answer to. Not a man. Not anything in creation. Not the devil. God alone.

May the comfort of the Holy Spirit and the peace of our Lord Jesus be with you all. May God bless and be with you always.

Until next time, be blessed, be a blessing, and Jesus is Lord!

Coming Right Up: A Conversation with Peter

 Next up here at TAG

Hey folks, if you have been with us here at TAG, {The Truth According to God} for the past 34 weeks, congratulations, you just read through the entire book of Deuteronomy. That's right, we wrapped up Deuteronomy last week.

Here is a reminder. Some people find it truly difficult, and some see it as nearly impossible, to read through the Word of God. They struggle to stay on target and find themselves falling away, failing to complete what they set out to do so badly. There are a few reasons for this.

1 - The Word of God is not natural. It is supernatural. It is alive. It is real and ever working in this world and in people's lives.
"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17
We are natural, l and we crave the things of the flesh, which is the opposite of and even opposed to the things of God. Sometimes we pick up the Bible and try to read it with our carnal minds. This is a problem.
"For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God." Romans 8:5-8
When you pick up this book (Holding up the Bible), you should pray about it. Ask God to give you eyes to see, and a spirit to receive His Word. Ask Him to give you the Holy Spirit to interpret and to understand what His Word is telling you. The word declares that God is willing to give wisdom and understanding to those who ask Him.
"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him." James 1:5
2 - The Cares for this world.
“Hear then the parable of the sower: When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path. As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy, yet he has no root in himself but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away. As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.” Matthew 13:18-23

Again, when you read God's Word, you should pray to Him and ask for guidance and even time to do so. Set a routine. Get up an hour earlier. Go to bed an hour later. Skip that TV show. Miss that next newscast. Make it a priority to read God's Word, His guidance for your understanding, and never forget that God's Word is absolute and just. Therefore, if it says something that offends you or goes against what the world says, it is true. The world is wrong. It IS just that simple.

3 - Offensive content

To elaborate a bit more on the last topic, you may become offended at something you read in the Word. Abortion is murder. Psalm 139:13-18, Exodus 21:22-25, Homosexuality is sin, Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, Ezekiel 16:48-51, {Think America} Romans 1: 18-32. Jesus IS the only way to Heaven? John 14:6, Matthew 7:21–27, John 6:63, He promised that those who believe in Him will have Eternal Life, John 3:14–15. He is the gate of the sheep, John 10:7; The Bread of Life, John 6:35; and the Resurrection, John 11:25.

It really is simple. It is in the Book. If the Bible tells you it is sin. It is a sin. It does not matter one iota what you may think about it. What Man says about it. What even the Courts say about it. It does not matter what world leaders, the news, or famous people say about it. If the world chooses to ignore the Word of God, it doesn't change sin to good. Rather, it heaps up the punishment that will eventually come. If you become offended at something you read, pray about it. Ask God why. Seriously, look in the mirror. God is always right and just. His Word is always right and just.

4 - Compassion for others.

Wait. What? Yup. Having a false sense of compassion for others can stop you from reading God's Word. Why? See above. I believe in God. I even believe in Jesus. However, my mother believes in Buddha, or that my best friend is gay, and believes in a loving God where all are welcome and encouraged to just be themselves. There is nothing wrong with that in my eyes. Or you may have something in your past, or know someone that you know the Bible will talk against. Well, I just do not believe that this or that is really sinning. I'm just going to live my life and let God sort it out in the end. That is simply judging the Bible based on what others have told you.

In today's society, Jesus would have detractors on every side. Pretty much like He did then. Jesus does not measure compassion in a merely temporal, circumstantial way. His measure of compassion is eternal and transcendent. His goal, His mission, His compassion, is rooted in something deeper than a feeling. It is based on holiness and goodness. Absolute righteousness. Try reading it for yourself and ask God to put it in proper context and help you to understand. It will change your life.

The Book of Colossians

The Book of Colossians is essentially a "Correction and Connection" letter written by the Apostle Paul while he was in prison. It’s short, punchy, and packs a massive theological punch, primarily focusing on one big idea: Jesus is enough.

Paul had never actually visited Colossae. The church there was likely started by his colleague, Epaphras. However, Paul heard that the believers were being swayed by "hollow and deceptive philosophy"—a mix of local mysticism, legalism, and the idea that you needed "secret knowledge" or extra rituals to truly reach God.

Back to what I was saying, if you have been here for the past 34 weeks, you read through the entire book of Deuteronomy. Congrats. We will be diving into the book of Colossians starting next week. One chapter a week. That's it. That's all. Not too tough if you choose you really want to do it. Remember, pray. Ask God to show you what He wants you to see as we go through Colossians together.

Until next time. Be blessed, be a blessing, and Jesus IS Lord!

A Saints Prayer

Hey folks, welcome. Today, we will be starting a new sermon series entitled  "A Saint's Prayer." We are going to spend the next few weeks in Psalm 25. This is a prayer, a song written by King David, and it is one that all Saints, including you, can pray. Did you know you were a Saint? You are. This prayer of David is definitely worth learning.

Let us pray, Father. We are so thankful for your love and grace. We come before you today to learn from your Word. We know we cannot do that without your guidance. Please grant us eyes to see, ears to hear, and a spirit to receive your Word, Truth, and Revelation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you have your Bibles, turn to Psalm 25. Again, this is a Psalm of David.

"Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift my soul. O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me. Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause."

Now notice. The first thing he does is recognize that God is in charge. Although he is the King of Israel, he still states, “Do I lift my soul. O my God, I trust in thee.” Although he does not know it, he is following, if you will, the formula of the “Our Father” prayer that Jesus gave us. Acknowledge God about and before all things.

Then what is he asking for? Truth, and discernment of truth. Notice he is not praying for the world. He is praying for wisdom and discernment to know the truth from lies. Remember, the wisdom of this world is far different than the wisdom of God.

We are told this over and over in the Word.
“Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” 1 John 2:15-17
Since it is true, what is right and just? The world's point of view, or God’s Word? Is the truth relevant? Is it led by compassion and love or worldly things? Or is it the living Word of the one true God? How can you tell the difference? This. {Holding up the Bible}

If you want, turn to 1 John 4:1-6
“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.”
This is more true today than ever. All these false churches popping up all over the place, that call sin good, and good sin, or better yet, teach that there is no sin.
“By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.”
Again, some of these churches and false prophets are convincing, compassionate, and some are often skilled in the Word. I just debated someone who is using the Word in one breath, quoting scriptures, and in the other rejecting scripture and claiming we must do this out of love. What he is doing is attempting to justify sin by using the Word of God.

You really cannot do that. Yet, if I were not skilled in the Word, and if I did not have the spirit of discernment, I may have fallen for the lies. Verse 4
“Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore, they speak from the world, and the world listens to them.”
Ever wonder why some “good people,” some friends, maybe even some family, can even possibly believe some of the stuff out there? Some of the stuff the world is spouting? I do often. I think to myself, come on, you're smarter than that. HOW. How do you possibly buy into this, uh, stuff? But then I have to remember, they are not of God. Therefore, no matter how “good” they may be, they cannot nor will they listen to God.
“We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this, we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.”
It really is this simple. Even if they seem “religious,” it does not mean they are right. Look at this passage in Romans 10: 2-3
“For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.”
Sadly, this is where we seem to be today.
“In vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’” Matthew 15:9
And in 2 Corinthians 11:13
“For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.”
Of course, 2 Timothy 4:3-5
“For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. But as for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.”
Again, some of these are very charismatic. They are very convincing. They tell people what they want to hear. What they want to believe. It sounds good. More importantly, what? FEELS good. Feels right. Feels justified.

If you do not have a solid foundation in this, {Holding up the Bible,} in the truth, you can and will fall for a lie. Remember, they are very skilled. But they will not last. Look at this warning.
“But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them, the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed, they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.” 2 Peter 2:1-3
Know the truth, and it will set you free. Pray for discernment, and it will set you free from the snares of false teaching. Follow this simple truth.
“But even if an angel from heaven, or we, should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.”
Pretty simple, but important enough to say it twice.
“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ. Galatians 1:8-10
God is constant. God does not change. There are no variations. No grey areas. No compromising. No changing with the times. God is God, the Gospel is the Gospel. Truth is Truth. Lies are lies. Jesus IS LORD.

Here is another simple way to know the truth. Ask God. Not man. Join us next time as we continue Psalm 25: A Saint's Prayer.

Are you a Saint? Would you like to be? Simply "That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, You shall be saved." Romans 10:9.

Say this Prayer. Right now. Wherever you may be, no matter what you think of your worthiness, say it in your own words, and do not doubt in your heart. God will hear you. He will send the Spirit of Life to you. Let us pray.

Oh, heavenly Father, Lord God. I am a sinner. I know this. I know there is nothing I can do to change that. But I know you can. I accept Jesus' sacrifice for me. I believed He rose from the dead. I repent of my sins. Please send the Spirit of Adoption into my life. Help me to get to know the real you. Save me. Please. In the name of Jesus, Amen!

May the comfort of the Holy Spirit and the peace of our Lord Jesus be with you all. May God bless and be with you always.

Until next time, be blessed, be a blessing, and Jesus is Lord!

Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 34

Chapter 34

The Death of Moses

1 Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is opposite Jericho. And the Lord showed him all the land, Gilead as far as Dan, 2 all Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the western sea, 3 the Negeb, and the Plain, that is, the Valley of Jericho the city of palm trees, as far as Zoar. 4 And the Lord said to him, “This is the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, ‘I will give it to your offspring.’ I have let you see it with your eyes, but you shall not go over there.” 5 So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord, 6 and he buried him in the valley in the land of Moab opposite Beth-peor; but no one knows the place of his burial to this day. 7 Moses was 120 years old when he died. His eye was undimmed, and his vigor unabated. 8 And the people of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab for thirty days. Then the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.

9 And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him. So the people of Israel obeyed him and did as the Lord had commanded Moses. 10 And there has not arisen a prophet since in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, 11 none like him for all the signs and the wonders that the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and to all his servants and to all his land, 12 and for all the mighty power and all the great deeds of terror that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.

It Is Finished

 Check out this simple truth.

We just completed our in-depth study on the Ten Commandments. New Year, new you. What do you want to talk about? How about, since we are in basic mode, why do we not discuss what makes “Christianity” different from ANY other religion out there?

That is what we will be talking about today. Let us pray. Heavenly Father, Lord God, we come before you at the start of the new year, with the desire to grow in faith and to learn your Ways and Will for our lives. We ask for eyes to see, ears to hear, and a spirit to receive the Truth according to God. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
Yes Jesus. It is not just Jesus being here. Many religions recognize the man Jesus. Many hold Him to be a great teacher, prophet, and so on. But His entire life is read out before us in Isaiah 53. I encourage you to read the whole chapter when you can. We are going to focus today on 5-9
“But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.”
Now you see where we are going with this?
“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned--every one--to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.”
We may have to revisit the whole chapter soon. You can read things like this and think that he was simply recording the events around Jesus. Yet, this is some 700 years before Jesus was ever born.
“By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people? And they made his grave with the wicked and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth.”
We will do a message about Isaiah 53. This way, you can clearly see where it all lines up. For today, we are discussing Jesus’s death on the cross, rather, what happened after. All these predictions, or prophecies, about Jesus and His death are coming true as they do the things prophesied about them.

Now, we see Him on the Cross. Naked, beaten, bloody, barely recognizable. All those who claimed to love Him? “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned--every one--to his own way;” They left Him. Out of fear, they ran away, stood afar off, and denied knowledge of their friendship with Him.

Remember this in the Psalms?
“To the choirmaster: according to The Doe of the Dawn. A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning?”
What about this is Psalm 22:6-8?
“But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by mankind and despised by the people. All who see me mock me; they make mouths at me; they wag their heads; "He trusts in the LORD; let him deliver him; let him rescue him, for he delights in him!" Psalm 22:1
Again, this is NOT depicting the scene we are looking at. Well, it is, but at the time. Remember, the Psalms of David were written hundreds of years prior.
“And when they had crucified him, they divided his garments among them by casting lots.” Matthew 27:35
This is Jesus hanging on the Cross.
“And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads and saying, "You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross." So also the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked him, saying, "He saved others; he cannot save himself. He is the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.” Matthew 27:39-42
Divided His clothes, mocked Him, and then.
“And about the ninth hour, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, 'Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?' that is, 'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" And some of the bystanders, hearing it, said, ‘This man is calling Elijah.’ And one of them at once ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine, and put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink. ... And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit.” Matthew 27:46-48, 50
In John, we read this.
“When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, 'It is finished,' and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” John 19:30
Remember, no one took our Lord’s life.
“For this reason, the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have the authority to lay it down, and I have the authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father." John 10:17-18
Therein lies the difference. Muhammad, Buddha, Confucius, and all the rest were born to human parents. You know, through sex and sin. Muhammad, Buddha, Confucius, and all the rest lived, learned, and died. It is only Jesus who came back. Only Jesus, who is still alive.
“When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, "Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.” Revelations 1:17-18
If whatever church, religion, or person, whatever they tell you, does not include Jesus as the resurrected one. The LORD of Lords, the King of kings. The Way, Truth, and the Life, you are in the wrong religion, church, and the people talking to you are incorrect. Lying, or otherwise.

It really is simple.
“And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:11-12
With Jesus. With Yeshua, with God, you find the truth. Without Jesus, without Yeshua, you cannot get to God. Again, how do you get to God if you leave God out? How do you understand who Jesus, God, or anything else is? Without reading The Word. The Bible. You cannot. It is not possible. Therefore, if what your religion, church, and person are telling you does not line up with, or goes contrary to this, {Holding up the Bible}, you are in the wrong religion, church, and the people talking to you are incorrect. Lying, or otherwise.

God never wanted nor does He want any misunderstandings. That is why He gave us the Commandments. This is why He sent prophets. That is why He wrote us this love letter {Holding up the Bible}, and this is why Jesus had to come and die for us.

There is no other way. There are no loopholes. Jesus or nothing. God and Life, or sin and death. It really is just that simple. Now, as we go into the new year, we will get deeper in the Word. We will grow in faith and wisdom. We will get closer to God. We will break the lies of the devil along the way.
“Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.” Jude 1:24-25

Book of Deuteronomy Chapter 33

 Chapter 33

Moses' Final Blessing on Israel

1 This is the blessing with which Moses, the man of God, blessed the people of Israel before his death. 2 He said,

“The Lord came from Sinai

    and dawned from Seir upon us;

    He shone forth from Mount Paran;

He came from the ten thousands of holy ones,

    with flaming fire at his right hand.

3 Yes, he loved his people,

    all his holy ones were in his hand;

So they followed in your steps,

    receiving direction from you,

4 When Moses commanded us a law,

    as a possession for the assembly of Jacob.

5 Thus the Lord became king in Jeshurun,

    When the heads of the people were gathered,

    all the tribes of Israel together.

6 “Let Reuben live, and not die,

    but let his men be few.”

7 And this he said of Judah:

“Hear, O Lord, the voice of Judah,

    and bring him in to his people.

With your hands contend for him,

    and be a help against his adversaries.”

8 And of Levi he said,

“Give to Levi your Thummim,

    and your Urim to your godly one,

whom you tested at Massah,

    with whom you quarreled at the waters of Meribah;

9 who said of his father and mother,

    ‘I regard them not’;

He disowned his brothers

    and ignored his children.

For they observed your word

    and kept your covenant.

10 They shall teach Jacob your rules

    and Israel, your law;

They shall put incense before you

    and whole burnt offerings on your altar.

11 Bless, O Lord, his substance,

    and accept the work of his hands;

crush the loins of his adversaries,

    of those who hate him, that they rise not again.”

12 Of Benjamin, he said,

“The beloved of the Lord dwells in safety.

The High God surrounds him all day long,

    and dwells between his shoulders.”

13 And of Joseph he said,

“Blessed by the Lord be his land,

    with the choicest gifts of heaven above,

    and of the deep that crouches beneath,

14 with the choicest fruits of the sun

    and the rich yield of the months,

15 with the finest produce of the ancient mountains

    and the abundance of the everlasting hills,

16 with the best gifts of the earth and its fullness

    and the favor of him who dwells in the bush.

May these rest on the head of Joseph,

    on the pate of him who is prince among his brothers.

17 A firstborn bull—he has majesty,

    and his horns are the horns of a wild ox;

with them he shall gore the peoples,

    all of them, to the ends of the earth;

they are the ten thousands of Ephraim,

    and they are the thousands of Manasseh.”

18 And of Zebulun he said,

“Rejoice, Zebulun, in your going out,

    and Issachar, in your tents.

19 They shall call peoples to their mountain;

    there they offer right sacrifices;

for they draw from the abundance of the seas

    and the hidden treasures of the sand.”

20 And of Gad he said,

“Blessed be he who enlarges Gad!

    Gad crouches like a lion;

    he tears off arm and scalp.

21 He chose the best of the land for himself,

    for there a commander's portion was reserved;

and he came with the heads of the people,

    with Israel he executed the justice of the Lord,

    and his judgments for Israel.”

22 And of Dan he said,

“Dan is a lion's cub

    that leaps from Bashan.”

23 And of Naphtali he said,

“O Naphtali, sated with favor,

    and full of the blessing of the Lord,

    possess the lake and the south.”

24 And of Asher he said,

“Most blessed of sons be Asher;

    let him be the favorite of his brothers,

    and let him dip his foot in oil.

25 Your bars shall be iron and bronze,

    and as your days, so shall your strength be.

26 “There is none like God, O Jeshurun,

    who rides through the heavens to your help,

    through the skies in his majesty.

27 The eternal God is your dwelling place,

    and underneath are the everlasting arms.

And he thrust out the enemy before you

    and said, ‘Destroy.’

28 So Israel lived in safety,

    Jacob lived alone,

in a land of grain and wine,

    whose heavens drop down dew.

29 Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you,

    a people saved by the Lord,

the shield of your help,

    and the sword of your triumph!

Your enemies shall come fawning to you,

    and you shall tread upon their backs.”

Ten Commandments 2026, 9 & 10

 "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor."

 "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's."

Welcome back. Today, we will wrap up our in-depth study of the Ten Commandments. These are the all-but-forgotten Laws of God. They are not something little Johnny and Suzy should learn how to say in Sunday School. They are not a nice Biblical story. When someone asks you, What are the Ten Commandments, you should not say something like, "Have no other God but God, uh, don't kill, uh, don't cheat on your Wife. Yeah, that's a bad one. Uh, oh yeah, don't steal." You need to KNOW what these are. As a child of God, these are given to you, not to make your life more difficult, but easier, and to keep you from the snares of the Devil.

Today, we will be talking about Commandments 9 and 10
"You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.”

"You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's."
Then we will wrap it up as Jesus did at the end. Let's get to it.

Let us pray. Heavenly Father, Lord God, we come before you with thanksgiving and praise today, all the praise and glory be to you, God. We are wrapping up our in-depth study of your Word as it applies to the Ten Commandments. Today, we examine nine and ten. Please, Father, give us eyes to see, ears to hear, and the ability to understand what you wish us to know. In Jesus' name, Amen!

"You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor."

Now first, as we talked about before, with Commandment 6, if you bear false witness against someone, not only can you hurt them, but you can also cause them to be put to death. Look at what they did to Jesus.

Let's look at Deuteronomy 19
"A single witness shall not suffice against a person for any crime or wrong in connection with any offense that he has committed. Only on the evidence of two witnesses or three witnesses shall a charge be established. If a malicious witness arises to accuse a person of wrongdoing, then both parties to the dispute shall appear before the LORD, before the priests and the judges who are in office in those days. The judges shall inquire diligently, and if the witness is a false witness and has accused his brother falsely, then you shall do to him as he had meant to do to his brother. So you shall purge the evil from your midst. And the rest shall hear and fear, and shall never again commit any such evil among you." Deuteronomy 19:15-20
We can see this throughout the Word, where those falsely accuse innocent people. Adam accused Eve. Satan accused Job. The Jews accused Jesus. ETC. However, false accusations are not the only way you can bear false witness.

Let's say you overhear someone talking about someone. They say this or that. Now, without knowing if it's true, repeat what you heard about that person. It's not true. Yet, now that person is hurt or has to deal with the consequences of the lie you took part in.

"Did you hear Sally is sleeping with the Boss?" What you don't know is that Sally isn't. You see, the Boss has a medical issue, and Sally has a relative with the same issue, and is very educated in ways to help. They became friends, and Sally helps the "Boss" from time to time with his condition. There is nothing wrong or seedy about their relationship.

Now, the rumor reaches the "corporate office," and both are fired. Or the rumor reaches Sally's husband or the "Boss's" wife, and it wrecks their families and their lives.

Never gossip. Even if Sally is sleeping with the "Boss," it's none of your concern. Deal with each other with love. Would you want others walking around talking about you? Treat others as you would like to be treated.

"You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's." Exodus 20:17

So why is this important? Isn't "keeping up with the Joneses" normal? Maybe. But why does God want you to avoid this? Because of what it can lead to. Turn to 1 Kings 21:1-13
“Now Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard in Jezreel, beside the palace of Ahab, king of Samaria. And after this, Ahab said to Naboth, "Give me your vineyard, that I may have it for a vegetable garden because it is near my house, and I will give you a better vineyard for it; or, if it seems good to you, I will give you its value in money."
Now, notice: yes, the King didn't do anything wrong — not yet. He saw Naboth’s vineyard and wanted it. He asked Naboth to enter into a business-like agreement to give him the vineyard.
“But Naboth said to Ahab, 'The LORD forbade that I should give you the inheritance of my fathers."
Naboth said no. Now we see how much Ahab covets the vineyard.
“And Ahab went into his house vexed and sullen because of what Naboth the Jezreelite had said to him, for he had said, 'I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers." And he lay down on his bed and turned away, refusing to eat any food.

But Jezebel, his wife, came to him and said to him, "Why is your spirit so vexed that you eat no food?"
He goes on to tell her, and we pick up in verse 7
“And Jezebel, his wife, said to him, "Do you now govern Israel? Arise and eat bread and let your heart be cheerful; I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite."
She told him the truth. You are king. All of this is yours. But if this is not enough. I will take care of Naboth for you.
“So she wrote letters in Ahab's name and sealed them with his seal, and she sent the letters to the elders and the leaders who lived with Naboth in his city. And she wrote in the letters, "Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth at the head of the people. And set two worthless men opposite him, and let them bring a charge against him, saying, 'You have cursed God and the king.' Then take him out and stone him to death."

And the men of his city, the elders, and the leaders who lived in his city did as Jezebel had sent word to them. As it was written in the letters that she had sent to them, they proclaimed a fast and set Naboth at the head of the people. And the two worthless men came in and sat opposite him. And the worthless men brought a charge against Naboth in the presence of the people, saying, "Naboth cursed God and the king." So they took him outside the city and stoned him to death with stones.”
Ahab coveted the vineyard, which led to bearing false witness, theft, and ultimately murder.

In 2 Samuel 11, starting in verse 1
"In the spring of the year, the time when kings go out to battle, David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel. And they ravaged the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem. It happened, late one afternoon, when David arose from his couch and was walking on the roof of the king's house, and he saw from the roof a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful.”
Things happen. Say “Things happen.” It was not his intent to see this. Like if you are out at the mall with your family and a beautiful woman barely dressed walks by you. It was not your intent to look at her. Say “Things happen.” Did King David look away? No. He kept looking. He started to covet and lust. Read on.
“And David sent and inquired about the woman. And one said, "Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?"
He was told she was married. This should have been it. Was it?
“So David sent messengers and took her, and she came to him, and he lay with her. (Now she had been purifying herself from her uncleanness.) Then she returned to her house. And the woman conceived, and she sent and told David, "I am pregnant."
David coveted Bathsheba, which led to adultery.
“So David sent word to Joab, 'Send me Uriah the Hittite." And Joab sent Uriah to David. When Uriah came to him, David asked how Joab was doing, how the people were doing, and how the war was going. Then David said to Uriah, "Go down to your house and wash your feet." And Uriah went out of the king's house, and there followed him a present from the king. But Uriah slept at the door of the king's house with all the servants of his lord and did not go down to his house.”
Of course, David was hoping for Uriah to sleep with his wife, in which case, his wife Bathsheba would lie and say it was his, covering up her and David’s sin of adultery. But he didn’t.
“When they told David, 'Uriah did not go down to his house,' David said to Uriah, 'Have you not come from a journey? Why did you not go down to your house?" Uriah said to David, "The ark and Israel and Judah dwell in booths, and my lord Joab and the servants of my lord are camping in the open field. Shall I then go to my house, to eat and to drink and to lie with my wife? As you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing." Then David said to Uriah, "Remain here today also, and tomorrow I will send you back." So Uriah remained in Jerusalem that day and the next. And David invited him, and he ate in his presence and drank so that he made him drunk. And in the evening he went out to lie on his couch with the servants of his lord, but he did not go down to his house.”
Plan two failed. Get Uriah drunk and hope he goes home. However, Uriah was an honorable and faithful servant of David, so he would never do such a thing.
“In the morning, David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it by the hand of Uriah. In the letter he wrote, "Set Uriah in the forefront of the hardest fighting, and then draw back from him, that he may be struck down, and die." As Joab was besieging the city, he assigned Uriah to the place where he knew there were valiant men. And the men of the city came out and fought with Joab, and some of the servants of David among the people fell. Uriah the Hittite also died." 2 Samuel 11:1-17
So David coveted Bathsheba, which led to adultery and murder. It also cost David the life of his son. You see, when you start coveting something, it then leads to other sins. This is why God told us
“You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD." Leviticus 19:18
Jesus put it to us this way.
"And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets." Matthew 22:35-40
In Romans.
"Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, "You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet," and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfilling of the law." Romans 13:8-10
"Have no other Gods but God."
"Love Thy Neighbor as yourself."
Then Jesus gave us a new Commandment. A clarification, if you will.
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another." John 13:34
How did Jesus love us? While we were yet sinners, He laid down his very life for us.

Now you understand why. If you have no other God before God, you will not worship idols. You will not take His name in vain. You will obey His commandments. If you love your neighbor as yourself, you will treat them as you want to be treated. You would not steal from yourself, and you would not lie about yourself. You would not kill yourself. You will be content with what you have.

You see, the forgotten Laws, the Ten Commandments, were truly not given to make our lives more difficult, but they were given to us to make our lives easier, and to keep us from the snares of the devil.

Have you been adopted? If not, say this Prayer. Right now. Wherever you may be, say it in your own words, and do not doubt in your heart. God will hear you. He will send the Spirit of Life to you. Let us pray.

"Oh heavenly Father, Lord God. I am a sinner. I know this. I know there is nothing I can do to change that. But I know you can. I accept Jesus's sacrifice for me. I believed He rose from the dead. I repent my sins. Please send the Spirit of Adoption into my life. Help me to get to know the real you. Save me. Please. In the name of Jesus, Amen!"

That's it. It is that simple. Now go tell someone what you have just done. "That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, You shall be saved." Romans 10:9. You need to find a Church that God leads you to and be baptized the way Jesus said to be. You are now a Child of God. A New Creature. You "have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him."Colossians 3:10
