The Fruit of The Spirit, Gentleness

Gentleness

It is said, that as Children of God, we are to strive to be more like The Christ Himself, Jesus. That the Spirit of God will come and will change us into a new Creature. We are to grow.
"That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love."
{Ephesians 4:14–16}
So we are to be like Jesus. Who was Jesus? Jesus IS God. He has all the Authority and Power of God. He healed the Sick. Cast out Devils. Even raised the Dead. When they came to take Him, He told Peter,
"Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?" {Matthew 26:53}
Yet with all this Power, He came here willingly. He lived His life Willingly. He went with them to be tortured and Murdered WILLINGLY. As a Lamb to the Slaughter. Another point that is sometimes overlooked, is what He did ON the Cross. He forgave those that hung Him on it. Then He WILLINGLY died. Then HE WILLINGLY Raised Himself up. Oh make no mistake about it. Jesus did all this Himself.
"Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father." {John 10:17-18}
Yes, even with all this Power, He was Gentle towards us. He treated us as we are, like little Babies that know nothing of what we are doing. Little Babies that cannot control ourselves. That know no better. That need Milk and comfort. That need EVERYTHING. He showed us Gentleness.

We, now that He has gone to be with the Father, received another. His name is the Holy Spirit.
"For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together."
{Romans 8:15-17}
WE now have this same Authority and Power. We are Children of God. The Word tells us that..
"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits." {Proverbs 18:21}
And that we AS Children of God should...
"Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear."{Ephesians 4:29}
You have the Power and Authority to bind and or loose. To Bless or Curse. Every Child of God is powerful. We can speak words that influence others. We can act in ways that help or hurt. Gentleness constrains and channels that power. To be gentle is to recognize that God's ways and thoughts are high above our own. It is to have the Mind of Christ. To understand that the World is the way it is, because it must be. It is to understand that there are people that are simple lost and ignorant. They know no better. We are not to get angry with them. But we are to have compassion on them.
"And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;" {2 Timothy 2:24-25}
For those that hate us? For those that may abuse us? For those that spitefully use us? We are to Forgive them.
"Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.

The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee allThen the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.

But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.

So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?

And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses."
{Matthew 18:23-35}
Gentleness also means giving up the Right to Judge what is best for ourselves and others. God is not as concerned with our comfort as He is concerned with our spiritual growth. He knows how to grow us far better than we do. Gentleness means that we accept that the rain falls on the evil and the just and that God may use methods we don't like to reach our Hearts and the Hearts of others.

As Jesus was Gentle towards us, we are to be Gentle towards others, and with the Spirit, we can be. He offers us His Gentleness as a Gift. If we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us, we will be filled with Fruit of Gentleness.

Do you know Jesus as your Savior? Have you been adopted into the Family of God? If not, say this Prayer. Right now. Wherever you may be. Say it in your own words, and do not doubt in your heart. God will hear you. He will send the Spirit of Life to you. Let us Pray..

"Oh heavenly Father, Lord God. I am a sinner. I know this. I know there is nothing I can do to change that. But I know you can. I accept Jesus's sacrifice for me. I repent my sins. Please send the Spirit of Adoption into my life. Help me to get to know the real you. Save me. Please. In the name of Jesus, Amen!"

That's it. It really is that simple. Now go tell someone what you have just done. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." {Romans 10:9} You need to find a Church that God leads you to, and be Baptized the way Jesus said to be. You are now a Child of God. A new Creature. You "have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him." {Colossians 3:10}

Until next time, be Blessed, be a Blessing, and Jesus IS Lord..
