"Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel."{Isaiah 7:14}There is left no doubt about who Jesus is..
"Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.There is no other that fits this, or any other Prophesied Picture of who the Messiah is. Jesus is the only one. Jesus IS The Way, The Truth. The Life. NO ONE COMES TO GOD WITHOUT HIM. No one is Saved without Jesus. There is NO OTHER WAY.
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors." {Isaiah 53}
However, as God also foretold us, Jesus, the Corner Stone, The Way, is also a Stubbing Block. One that offends many. One who many hate without cause.
"For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men." {1 Corinthians 1:23-25}However, none of this matters. The truth is the Truth. The Way is The Way. Life comes but by one, Jesus. Anything else is a waste of time, and perhaps even worse, Heresies.
Now I had a whole list of differing Heresies..
Adoptionism, Arianism, Docetism, Pneumatomachians, Sabellianism, ETC. I was going to break them down as follows...
Adoptionism - Belief that Jesus was born as a mere (non-divine) Man, was supremely virtuous and that he was adopted later as "Son of God" by the descent of the Spirit on him.
Or that Docetism is the belief that Jesus' physical body was an illusion, as was his crucifixion; that is, Jesus only seemed to have a physical body and to physically die, but in reality he was incorporeal, a pure spirit, and hence could not physically die
Although it may be interesting, and it is, to learn that Sabellianism is the belief that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three Characterizations of one God, rather than three distinct "Persons" in one God. It is pretty pointless. Here is why. Anything that rejects Jesus, His Godhood. His Sacrifice. The Holy Spirit. God's real nature. Anything that goes against that of which you know, IS HERESY.
Remember,
"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." {Galatians 1:8-9}There is no other Truth. There is no other Way. There are NOT many Paths to one God. There is one.
"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in there at: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." {Matthew 7:13-14}This is why Heresies as so Evil. It does not matter what you do, how you live, what you believe. It does not matter how "good" you are. None of that matters, if you leave out the Key, If you leave out Jesus, you have NOTHING. Your Religion is pointless. This is why it is so important that you test what you hear and see.
“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming and is now already in the world. You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error,” {1 John 4:1-6}You see, it is easy to spot. "Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God." Simple. Easy. Not complicated. You do not have to have a PHD. You do not need a Degree. Simply put, Jesus? Good. No Jesus? Bad.
So many have changed God, His Nature, His Word, for no other reason than that of the fact Jesus offends them. They created whole Religions that include EVERYTHING except Jesus. People reject whole Truths of God, they pick and choose what they are willing to follow, and then wonder why their Religion seems to be lacking. Truth is, God is an all or nothing God. Religion for Religion sake is not harmless..
“But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.” {2 Peter 2:1 }Heresies are not harmless. It doesn't matter how you feel about this or that. It does not matter if you become offended at this or that. God created all things. He tells us what is Sin is Sin. What is Good is Good. God is God. Jesus is the Way. The Only Way. Anything else is false and pointless. But be careful Child of God. Test the Spirits. Do not be mislead in Heresies. Know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free..
Do you know Jesus as your Savior? Have you been adopted into the Family of God? If not, say this Prayer. Right now. Wherever you may be. Say it in your own words, and do not doubt in your heart. God will hear you. He will send the Spirit of Life to you. Let us Pray..
"Oh heavenly Father, Lord God. I am a sinner. I know this. I know there is nothing I can do to change that. But I know you can. I accept Jesus's sacrifice for me. I repent my sins. Please send the Spirit of Adoption into my life. Help me to get to know the real you. Save me. Please. In the name of Jesus, Amen!"
That's it. It really is that simple. Now go tell someone what you have just done. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." {Romans 10:9} You need to find a Church that God leads you to, and be Baptized the way Jesus said to be. You are now a Child of God. A new Creature. You "have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him." {Colossians 3:10}
