The Greatest Commandment Part 3

"Have no other God before God."

Now we have talked about putting God before your love of Money. We talked about seeing your Job for what it is, a Job. No matter how good you are, no matter how honored or respected you are at doing it, in the end, it is nothing more than a Job. You leave, or stop doing it, it will live on, and someone else will take your place. We talked about putting God before even your most Loved Love One.

Today, we are going to talk about Hobbies. What do you do for fun? Did you know that a Week is not really that long. Seriously. Did you know that a Week is only 168 hours long? Seven days is only 168 hours long.

40,50,to 60 of those hours, are most likely devoted to Work. Devoted to your Job. Then of course you have to factor in sleep. So let's look at 50 hours. Travel time and all that. 50 hours for your Job. That leaves 118 hours. Lets go with 6 hours of sleep a night. That is 42 hours a week. that leaves you 74 hours.

So in those precious 74 hours, what do you do? Do you like to Fish? Hike? Build Classic Cars? Do you spend most of the time when you are not spending it with your Family, on Social Media? Seriously, what do you do?

Now compare that with the Hour and a half, or Two Hours a week you spend in Church? Where does God really fit into your life? Jesus told us that the Greatest Commandment of all was this.
"Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment." {Matthew 22:36-38}
So what does "Have no other God before me." mean? "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind." Does this mean only on Sunday, if you feel up to going? Or does it mean you spend EVERY DAY with God?

Do you Pray to Him daily? I'm not talking about doing exercise. You know, you get down on one knee and say something like "Praise God. Forgive me of my Sins. Be with me today. Amen," jump back up, and then go about the rest of the 24 hours you got this day? Do you actually Pray, or do you risk throwing your back out? Going down and up so fast you may even break a sweat.

The Word declares we should...
"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."{1 Thessalonians 5:16-18}
You know, we've talked about this before. God requires, I repeat, God REQUIRES us to Tithe. That is give Ten Percent of our Salaries to Him. What do you think would happen if we started Tithing our time as well. Think about that. That would be 2 hours and 40 minutes in a day.

What? Too much? Let me ask you this then. How much time do you spend on Social Media? How much time do you spend with your Hobbies. How much time do you just waste? I'm not saying you should, although there would be nothing wrong with it, spend the whole time consecutively. You could Pray in the AM, say 30 minutes. Read the Word for 30 Minutes. On lunch you could eat and read The Word another 30 minutes. Pray on the way home. Read The Word or Pray before you go to bed. You could also use that time doing God's Will. 2 hours and 40 minutes a day? That is really not that long.

If you are truly loving "the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind." this should be pretty easy to do. Work, or anything else, will be mere distractions. If you are truly "Seeking the Kingdom of God first," these other things will be less important to you.
"Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer." {Romans 12:12}

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." {Philippians 4:6}

"Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving."{Colossians 4:2}
We are to put God first in our lives. We are suppose to see Him as our Daddy, and ourselves, as His Children. How do you spend time with your Family? How do you spend time with your Earthly Father?

When growing up, you see him ever day. He loves you, teaches you, yes, even corrects you. You eat with, spend time with, and learn to obey him. His word is final.You see him when you go to sleep. See him when you wake up. You want him there for the important things. The celebrations. You go to him when you want to learn something. You run to him when you are sad or scared. You know that as long as Daddy is right there, nothing can hurt you, and all is going to be OK. This is how God wants you to see Him.

God tells us..
"Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee." {Deuteronomy 31:6}
As long as you allow God to be your Daddy. Your actual Father. He is always with you. He is working in your life. He is watching out for you, protecting you, comforting you. He loves you with all His Heart, He wants you to do the same.

Think about this. He brought your Mom and Dad together. He saw you, and wrote you in His Book, before your Mom even knew she was Pregnant. He wrote in the Book, you would have Brown hair, or Blonde. You would have this color eyes. You would be this body type. Then you were fashioned as He wrote you. God loves you so much that even the hairs on your Head are NUMBERED. The hair on your Head.
"But the very hairs of your head are all numbered."{Matthew 10:30}

"But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows."{Luke 12:7}
Then, God set up a Purpose and a Plan for you and for your life. Then He called you. You are reading this right now, because God lead you to it. You go to Church because God lead you there. You "found" Jesus because God lead you to Him. Remember...
"No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day."{John 6:44}
You did not find Jesus. One, He was never lost. Two, you would not even know where to look. God led you to Him. He called you and you allowed the Spirit to led you to Adoption.
"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." {Romans 8:14}
This is why it is so very important that you get to know the REAL God. Not the image. Not the Statue. Not the likeness of. But the REAL God. The LIVING God. Oh that Cross around your neck may look pretty. That Picture of Jesus on your wall is beautiful. That statue of Mary is finely crafted. But there is no life in any of them. God, the Father, the Alpha and Omega, the Great "I AM," is now your Daddy. He wants a one on one relationship with you.

The only way you are going to have this kind of relationship, is to spend time with Him. Getting to know Him. Listening to His Word. Putting Him first in your life. Learn from Him. Learn from His Word. Allow the Spirit to tech you, guide you. Allow Him to be your Father. You must put God first in your Life. Above all things. Before all things. Even before your very Life itself. Without Him, you would have never even been to begin with.

Do you know Jesus as your Savior? Have you been adopted into the Family of God? If not, say this Prayer. Right now. Wherever you may be. Say it in your own words, and do not doubt in your heart. God will hear you. He will send the Spirit of Life to you. Let us Pray..

"Oh heavenly Father, Lord God. I am a sinner. I know this. I know there is nothing I can do to change that. But I know you can. I accept Jesus's sacrifice for me. I repent my sins. Please send the Spirit of Adoption into my life. Help me to get to know the real you. Save me. Please. In the name of Jesus, Amen!"

That's it. It really is that simple. Now go tell someone what you have just done. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." {Romans 10:9} You need to find a Church that God leads you to, and be Baptized the way Jesus said to be. You are now a Child of God. A new Creature. You "have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him." {Colossians 3:10}
