The Holy Spirit Is A Real Person

He is not a spook.

We just talked about how the body is nothing more than your earthly home. That it houses your Spirit Person. The real you. You are not a Red Head, Blonde, Fat, Old, Ugly. That birthmark, or those freckles on your face, or six pack abs, are not you. You, the REAL you, live inside.

However, as a Child of God, you are no longer living there alone. The Holy Spirit comes and dwells with you. He teaches you, brings things to your remembrance, and guides you in the ways you should go. He communes with the real you. He walks with, talks with, teaches, and intercedes with God, on your behalf.

Some misunderstand this passage...

1 Corinthians 6:
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
So what are you saying? My body is not mine. It is, and I will do what I want to do with it. If I want to eat Bacon morning noon and night, I will. If I want to smoke and drink, I will. If I want to get an Abortion, the Law in America says I have that "Right" because it is my body. You are just attempting to dictate to me what I can and can't do, because you do not agree with the way I live my life.

First, I'm not saying it, God is. It is a fact. Once you say the Prayer of Salvation, once you ask God to set you free from the Laws of Sin and Dead, the old you, the Body, DIES. You are dead. You are then transformed into a new Creature where the real you, the Spirit you, now in total control. Second, The Holy Spirit comes down from Heaven and dwells in you, with you. You now have the power of Faith. You are now going to live on long after the Body dies.

Think about that. Once you give yourself to God, you die. It is only appointed to man to die once.

Hebrews 9:

27 And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,
After that, your life is no longer yours to give, nor for anyone's to take. It belongs to God. You can smoke, drink, pierce, tattoo, eat whatever you want. You can make yourself sick. You can leave this Earth before your appointed time,

Ecclesiastes 7:
17 Be not overly wicked, neither be a fool. Why should you die before your time?
However, why would you want to? The point is, you do not have to. I do not judge how you live. I'm sure I give the Holy Spirit enough grief just living my life. You live how you chose.

Make no mistake about it though, The Holy Spirit is a very real PERSON. He is not a concept or idea. He is not a wind. Not a force. He is as real a person as Jesus is. As you are. He has been around since the beginning. In....

Genesis 1:
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
"And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." When there was yet nothing, The Holy Spirit was there. Then a little bit later in Genesis...
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness" In the original language, the word "our" means three or more. We are created in the imagine of God. We have our Mind. Our knowledge and wisdom, Will and emotions. Fashioned after God the Father. Our Body. Fashioned after the flesh of God, Jesus, Our Spirit. Who we really are, the thing that lives on. Fashioned after the Holy Spirit. We are three, yet one.

Just like God, and Jesus themselves, The Holy Spirit is a very real person. Jesus told us about Him, named Him, and told us exactly what we should expect of Him in......

John 14:
1Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Now I understand many get offended by this also. You mean if I do not accept Jesus as my personal Savior, I will not get to Heaven. Let me just repeat what Jesus said. "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." So the answer according to Jesus Himself is, Yes. But it is not exclusive, it's inclusive. He made the way easy for all to obtain. The choice is yours.
7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
Is He saying He is God? Yup. He is telling us that He is the Flesh of God. Offended?
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
So here He tells us that we will no longer be alone. That another will come. Not a force. Not a concept. Not a metaphor. A very real person. Another equal to Him.
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Again, Jesus is telling us that the Holy Spirit is a very real person. That He "dwelleth with you" and "shall be in you." So wait. Jesus says He dwells with them, present tense, then says He shall be in them, future tense. Then He said I shall come to you. He is already there? Of course. So what He is telling them, is that the Holy Spirit is Him, He is God. Three yet one. That when the Flesh dies, and He goes to be with the Father, the Spirit, who never dies, will come and dwell in us.
19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
Again, "I" in you. Not some spook. "I." Jesus. The Holy Spirit is equal to Jesus. He IS Jesus. Jesus IS God. Are you following?
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?

23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
Here is something that is not taught often. Read that again. "If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and WE will come unto him, and make our abode with him." What is He saying? Remember, OUR means three or more. Jesus said WE will make OUR abode with him. The very real person Jesus, the very real person the Holy Spirit, and even God Himself, will live IN us.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.

26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
So the Holy Spirit, the very real person, will come into us and teach us all things.
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

31 But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.
Who is the "Prince of this world?" The Devil. Satan. Who is also a very real person. Notice the story of Mary. Who was it that gave her the Seed to carry, to birth the Christ into the world? That's correct, the Holy Spirit. In....
Luke 1:
35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.
So it was the Holy Spirit that impregnated Mary with the Christ and it was the Holy Spirit that impregnated Elisabeth with John the Baptist? So why is Jesus called the Son of God and not John? Because the Holy Spirit did impregnate Mary, however, arranged it that Elisabeth could become pregnant by her Husband.

Then when Jesus and John met, and Jesus was Baptized, we were shown what happens to all of us...

Luke 3:
21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,

22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
In.....

Acts 2:
38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Also remember ......

1 John 4
12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
" Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God." So in conclusion, realize that the Holy Spirit is a very real person, and who He truly is. He is Jesus, and Jesus is God. Three yet one. When you become adopted into the Family of God, They come and dwell in you.

Back to the Truth that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and not of your own. When I first moved to Florida, I lived alone for five years. Wherever I put something, it stayed there. If I piled up stuff in a corner, it stayed there. If I swept, mopped, or vacuumed, I did. If not, I didn't. If I did the dishes, I did them. If not, they did not get done.

Certain times of year, people wanted to come to my home to see me. Birthdays, Holidays, etc. What did I do? Same thing most of you do. Spent twenty four to forty eight hours scrubbing, cleaning, moving stuff around. Hiding stuff. Whatever. Why? Because I had company coming. I wanted them to feel comfortable in my home so that they could concentrate on whatever the occasion was.

What God is telling you is simple. Your body is your Home, and you have company. You can clean it up, or not. But you are no longer living alone. It is really not a judgmental thing. It is a truth He wants you to understand. Would you walk around Naked with guests over? Would you do the things you did alone? Or would you be on your best behavior? That is all it is saying. You are no longer alone. The Holy Spirit is living with you. He is a very real person.

Do you know Jesus as your Savior? Have you been adopted into the Family of God? Have you cleaned up? Do you have company? Can you feel rest assured that the Holy Spirit is with you? If not, say this Prayer. Right now. Wherever you may be. Say it in your own words, and do not doubt in your heart. God will hear you. He will send the Spirit of Life to you. Let us Pray..

"Oh heavenly Father, Lord God. I am a sinner. I know this. I know there is nothing I can do to change that. But I know you can. I accept Jesus's sacrifice for me. I repent my sins. Please send the Spirit of Adoption into my life. Help me to get to know the real you. Save me. Please. In the name of Jesus, Amen!"

That's it. It really is that simple. Now go tell someone what you have just done. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." {Romans 10:9} You need to find a Church that God leads you to, and be Baptized the way Jesus said to be. You are now a Child of God. A new Creature. You "have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him." {Colossians 3:10}
