Does God Change? 

We are currently discussing sin as it relates to time. We have already defined sin, differentiated between a child of God and the lost, and explored the evolution of morals. Today, we will focus on the question: Does God Himself change? After all, it is 2025; does He “get with the times”? Does God “evolve”? The short answer is no. This is the warning we find in scripture.

“My son, fear the LORD and the king;
Do not associate with those given to change.” Proverbs 24:21

Let us pray.

Heavenly Father, LORD God, we thank you for all the blessings you bestow on us daily, including your grace and mercy, forgiveness, and love. May all the praise and glory be to you. As we enter your Word today, we ask you for eyes to see, ears to hear, and a spirit to understand and to receive your Word and your revelations. We love you, and we ask this in Yeshua’s name, amen!

We change our minds. Over time, we decide that our morals surpass those of God. In the past, we valued God, family, and freedom in this country. We all believed that a nation guided by God could face any challenges. It was widely accepted that marriage was traditionally defined as a union between one man and one woman. Many of our early laws were based on principles found in the Bible. The Big Ten is the most obvious example.

In time, we began to believe that we were a secular country. We removed God from schools, government, and public life, and now we wonder why there’s a moral decline. How do you change the future? Start in the schools. Slowly, over time. You transform what has always been into what you want it to be. 

Without God, the Bible, and prayer in school, there are no morals, no truth, and no foundation of right and wrong. Generation after generation, we drift further from the truth. Eventually, we no longer even recognize what the truth is and start to believe the lies.

How do we know what sin is today? {Holding up the Bible} This is the Bible. Right here. The Word of God. Look how Yeshua, or Jesus as translated, puts it here.

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.” Matthew 24:35

God does not change. Turn to Numbers 23:19

“God is not man, that he should lie,
Or a son of man, that he should change his mind.
Has he said, and will he not do it?
Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?”

Turn to Isaiah 40. Start at verse 6

“A voice says, "Cry!"
And I said, "What shall I cry?"
All flesh is grass,
And all its beauty is like the flower of the field.

The grass withers, the flower fades
when the breath of the LORD blows on it;
Surely the people are grass.

The grass withers, the flower fades,
But the word of our God will stand forever.” Isaiah 40:6-8

We may change. He never does. We may decide that what we like is no longer sin, but good, and should be celebrated. Yet? God still calls what is sin, as sin, and what is good, as good. As long as this, The Word of God, says this is sin? Then this is a sin.

Not only should we be aware of this fact. We should also be thankful that God remains unchanging. Why? Jesus. Why? He came to Earth and died for our sins. Therefore, we are forgiven if we accept Him. He will not, thankfully, change His mind about that.

“For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.” Malachi 3:6

Remember, the whole reason that Jesus came was because God could not lie, made a covenant with Noah, and promised that even though we are evil continuously, and worthy of death and destruction, He would not wipe us out again. Therefore, He came in the flesh to pay the price. Guess what?

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8

Do you think that God is watching us and saying, "Okay, you like this or that? Fine, I will erase it from the sin column and move it to the good column. Have at it." I can tell you, the answer is no.

We are not God. We crave the things of the flesh. Right, wrong, or indifferent, it does not matter. We want to have our flesh feel good. God is wiser than us. Yeah, I know. God is wiser than us. He knows the desire for unprotected sex leads to unwanted pregnancies, diseases, lust, and even rape and murder. God says sex is great, in the confines of a marriage between one man and one woman for life.

We say recreational drugs and alcohol use are good and can be done in moderation. Besides, whatever you do behind closed doors is your business. God is wiser than us. God says being drunk or given to illicit drugs leads to the destruction of families, can lead to theft and murder, and will lead to self-destruction.

We say whatever god, or no god, is ok. Astrology and witchcraft are cool. The name of God is nothing and not important. We must work at the discretion of our employers 24/7. Our mothers and fathers are outdated and do not know better than the rest of society, and we need not listen to them. Children have rights, you know? Abortion. Marriage? Who cares? Stealing from the rich is not stealing. It is justice. Gosep is good. Make sure you keep up with the Joneses and get fortune and fame.

God gave us the Big Ten. He did not give these to us to make our lives harder, or less “fun.” God gave these to us to make our lives easier and to keep us from the snares of the devil. Oh, and yes, the devil is very real.

Simply put.

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” James 1:17

God does not change. His Word does not change. His ways and love for us do not change. Sin is sin. Good is good. Want to know the difference? Right here. The Bible. God’s Word. Why do you think it is being attacked so viciously, even in some of our false churches that are on the rise? Why do you think that Jesus is being dismissed and His importance is lessened? Many roads to God and Heaven? Why do you think the “Prosperity Gospel” works? When you remove the Truth, people will start to believe the lies.

Prayerfully read this. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you the Truth.

“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.” John 16:13

But it is so confusing. My kids came home and told me that they were learning about transgenderism. They were told that this is good and these people are victims, and we can not speak out about this because that would be hateful. Or you see over and over again on TV how this or that is not only good and natural, but should be praised, and you should have pride in those who do this or that. How do I discern?

“Every word of God proves true;
He is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” Proverbs 30:5

This is why Paul teaches us that

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

No. God does not change with the times. No. God’s Word does not change to fit in with the times. No. Jesus would not accept or condone sin. Yes, He would call those out guilty of their sins. He would forgive them of their sin. Yet, He would say, Sin no more.

So if sin is still a sin, and if righteousness and goodness are still good, then how can we, as children of God, remain steadfast in these trying times? More importantly, in the times to come. Things are going to get worse. Join us for this topic at our next meeting.

Book of Deuteronomy, Chapter 10

 Chapter 10

New Tablets of Stone

1 “At that time the Lord said to me, ‘Cut for yourself two tablets of stone like the first, and come up to me on the mountain and make an ark of wood. 2 And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets that you broke, and you shall put them in the ark.’ 3 So I made an ark of acacia wood, and cut two tablets of stone like the first, and went up the mountain with the two tablets in my hand. 4 And he wrote on the tablets, in the same writing as before, the Ten Commandments that the Lord had spoken to you on the mountain out of the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly. And the Lord gave them to me. 5 Then I turned and came down from the mountain and put the tablets in the ark that I had made. And there they are, as the Lord commanded me.”

6 (The people of Israel journeyed from Beeroth Bene-jaakan to Moserah. There Aaron died, and there he was buried. And his son Eleazar ministered as priest in his place. 7 From there they journeyed to Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land with brooks of water. 8 At that time the Lord set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of the Lord to stand before the Lord to minister to him and to bless in his name, to this day. 9 Therefore Levi has no portion or inheritance with his brothers. The Lord is his inheritance, as the Lord your God said to him.)

10 “I myself stayed on the mountain, as at the first time, forty days and forty nights, and the Lord listened to me that time also. The Lord was unwilling to destroy you. 11 And the Lord said to me, ‘Arise, go on your journey at the head of the people, so that they may go in and possess the land, which I swore to their fathers to give them.’

Circumcise Your Heart

12 “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, 13 and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which I am commanding you today for your good? 14 Behold, to the Lord your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth with all that is in it. 15 Yet the Lord set his heart in love on your fathers and chose their offspring after them, you above all peoples, as you are this day. 16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stubborn. 17 For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe. 18 He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing. 19 Love the sojourner, therefore, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt. 20 You shall fear the Lord your God. You shall serve him and hold fast to him, and by his name you shall swear. 21 He is your praise. He is your God, who has done for you these great and terrifying things that your eyes have seen. 22 Your fathers went down to Egypt seventy persons, and now the Lord your God has made you as numerous as the stars of heaven.

Evolution of Morals

 Times change.

The Word declares this.

“My son, fear the LORD and the king;
Do not associate with those given to change.” Proverbs 24:21

In the past, we valued God, family, and freedom in this country. We all believed that a country guided by God could withstand any challenges. It was commonly accepted that the man was the head of the household, responsible for working and providing for the family, while the woman managed the home and cared for the children. Marriage was traditionally defined as a union between one man and one woman. Many of our early laws were based on the principles found in the Bible. 

We used to all agree with what our Founding Fathers said. James Madison said,

"We've staked our future on our ability to follow the ten commandments with all our heart.”

President Abraham Lincoln said this.

“The philosophy of the schoolroom in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next.”

This last one is crucial. Remember it.

So what happened? Some people like to say we evolved. This is what we will be discussing today: the evolution of morals.

Let us pray.

Father, LORD God, we come before You today with praise and thanksgiving. We acknowledge You as the Alpha and Omega, the great I Am. We are very thankful for your mercy upon us and our country. You have given us the ability to become your children and gather together freely to learn your will and way through your Word. Please grant us eyes to see, ears to hear, and a spirit to receive and understand your Word. We ask this in Yeshua’s name. Amen!”

We decided, in our wisdom, that we were a secular country. Wrong. We were founded on the Gospel of Christ and the Judeo-Christian belief systems. The Founding Fathers, in their wisdom, even created the First Amendment. Which reads as follows.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." It includes protections for freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and the right to petition the government.

Now this is important. It is the freedom OF religion. Not the freedom FROM religion. The phrase “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion” means exactly that. The government cannot establish a national religion as we had in Europe. That we have the God given right to have God in all aspects of Government and public life.

Those who hate God twisted this around to include this line from a private letter from Thomas Jefferson, “Wall of Separation of Church and State.” They say that this means we cannot have God in schools or any public places. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.” Stop. This does not say, “Putting one religion over another.” It does not say, “You cannot have religion in public.” “You cannot teach God in Schools, nor have Prayer in Schools.” This is simply and clearly not true. Christianity is a part of our country’s heritage.

In John Quincy Adams’ 4th of July address, Adams is speaking to the fact that the United States is the only nation in history established by mostly Christian people, founded upon Biblical principles.

“Is it not that in the chain of human events, the birthday of the nation is indissolubly linked with the birthday of the Savior? – that it forms a leading event in the progress of the Gospel dispensation? Is it not that the Declaration of Independence first organized the social compact on the foundation of the Redeemer’s mission upon earth? – that it laid the cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity?”

So what about that “Wall”? Thomas Jefferson was a big supporter of religious liberty. Because of this, he made sure that church and state stayed separate in American politics. He said this.

“And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the gift of God? That they are not to be violated, but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever.”

He argued that the "Wall" would protect the church from the federal government, rather than the other way around. In Thomas Jefferson’s letter to the Danbury Baptist Association, he wrote this now-famous line.

“Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should ʺmake no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,ʺ thus building a wall of separation between Church & State. Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the nation on behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man all his natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in opposition to his social duties.”

The main purpose of this “Wall” was to stop the Federal Government from creating or taking over religion and forcing the people of this country to follow what the “religion" or “church” says. What we fled from to come here. This is why we founded this country in the first place. Religious freedom!

How do you change the future? Start in the schools. Remember this wisdom from President Abraham Lincoln, who said this.

“The philosophy of the schoolroom in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next.”

We removed God and the Bible from our schools. Today? We do not even know who God is. We have removed Him from our schools. We have forbidden Him in Government, and we have forbidden Him in public life. We attack those who have faith in God and the Gospels as simpleton, racists, bigots, chauvinistic, and "Homophobes." Who are just too stupid to understand what is best for them and the country.

This movement in America to justify Homosexuality and to accept it as normal places America today in the same category as Samaria. Attacking all that simply tells the truth of it is slowly, and sadly, actually working. More people are falling for the lie that it is compassion. It is right to allow Gays to marry. They deserve equality with all others in America today. Transgenderism is good and needs to be celebrated. Age is just a number, so pedophilia is ok. Who are you to judge anyway?

By doing this, America is increasing its sins in God's eyes. Not only do we remain silent, but we also try to justify sin. We live in a country where we call sin good and good sin. We live in a nation that teaches our young that from nothing, one single cell appeared, and from that, all life as we know it today originated. Setting aside the fact that the Theory of Evolution is both scientifically and mathematically impossible. They teach that there is no God. Biology teaches us there are two genders, yet we say there are many, and whatever you wish to imagine in your mind is considered equal to science.

As a nation, we also violate the Ten Commandments daily. So to recap. We violate God's Laws. Remove God from public life. We have stopped teaching Him in our Schools. We attack those who are His children and those who believe in Him. We declare "One Nation Under God" and "In God We Trust." Yet, we do all these things, and we wonder why there is a moral decline in this country.

Through early education, which is little more than indoctrination, we whittle away at the very foundation of this Nation, and we slowly remove God and His Morals, and replace them with our own. The problem is, ours are corrupt and will bring about the destruction of this very country as we know it.

This is not a new concept, nor an idea. This is History. This happens all the time. When a nation forgets its foundations, it fails. When a Nation turns its back on God, it falls. How much more do you think America will fall, being founded on the Gospel of Christ Himself?

Make no mistake about it, this IS America today. We have "professed ourselves to be wise, and we have become fools." We have not only failed "to retain God in our knowledge," but we have all but forbidden God from being in our country. We have "changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things." We have "changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen." Not only has America accepted sin, but we have justified it and set up a process to attack anyone who chooses to speak out against it.

Why are there so many churches in this country that are being silent? Merely standing by and watching this country fall? Turn to Jude 1

“Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James, To those who are called, beloved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ: May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.

Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.”

Remember, the simple Truth is this.

“Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." John 14:6-7

Anything else is a lie. Back to Jude.

“Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day."

Who? Jesus. Who? Read it again if you have to. "Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe." God did not give Angels a pass. He did not give His own people a pass. What makes you think He will give America a pass? Especially since America has, in essence, told God to screw off. Seriously, keep reading and tell me this is not where America is today.

“Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire. Yet in like manner, these people also, relying on their dreams, defile the flesh, reject authority, and blaspheme the glorious ones.

But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, "The Lord rebuke you." But these people blaspheme all that they do not understand, and they are destroyed by all that they, like unreasoning animals, understand instinctively.

Woe to them! For they walked in the way of Cain and abandoned themselves for the sake of gain to Balaam's error and perished in Korah's rebellion. These are hidden reefs at your love feasts, as they feast with you without fear, shepherds feeding themselves; waterless clouds, swept along by winds; fruitless trees in late autumn, twice dead, uprooted; wild waves of the sea, casting up the foam of their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved forever. 

It was also about these that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones, to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness that they have committed in such an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him." 

These are grumblers, malcontents, following their own sinful desires; they are loud-mouthed boasters, showing favoritism to gain advantage. But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. They said to you, "In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions. It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit."

Stop here for a second. Remember, Paul warned us of this also.

“For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.” 2 Timothy 4:3-4

We have churches that are nothing more than get-rich-quick schemes for the pastors and staff. Sadly, many are starting to fall for the lies. Prosperity Gospel. Sin-free life. No hell. No devil. Homosexuality is natural and glorified. Anything goes as long as you do not harm others. No need for repentance. Yeshua, or Jesus, is not necessary. The Bible is outdated. So on and so forth. Back to Jude. Verse 20

"But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. And have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh. 

Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.” Jude 1

America today. What is coming is coming. What will happen will happen. Is it all part of God's plan? No one knows but God. However, God tells us we should not worry about such things...

As children of God, we need only worry about being children of God. Sowers of the Seed. Tellers of Truth. Showers of the Way. We need not worry about the foolishness of others. We need not worry about the sins of others. We need to concentrate on God and His plans and His purpose for our lives.

It may be 2025. It may be thousands of years since Jesus walked with us. Our “morals” may have evolved. However, that does not change sin to good or good to sin. Our “morals” may have evolved; however, right is still right, and wrong is still wrong. Our “morals” may have evolved; however, God is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. Do not be misled.

“My son, fear the LORD and the king;
Do not associate with those given to change.” Proverbs 24:21

Have you been adopted? If not, say this Prayer. Right now. Wherever you may be, say it in your own words, and do not doubt in your heart. God will hear you. He will send the Spirit of Life to you. Let us pray.

"Oh, heavenly Father, Lord God. I am a sinner. I know this. I know there is nothing I can do to change that. But I know you can. I accept Yeshua's sacrifice for me. I believed He rose from the dead. I repent of my sins. Please send the Spirit of Adoption into my life. Help me to get to know the real you. Save me. Please. In the name of Yeshua, Amen!"

That's it. It is that simple. Now go tell someone what you have just done. "That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, You shall be saved." Romans 10:9. You need to find a Church that God leads you to and be baptized the way Jesus said to be. You are now a Child of God. A New Creature. You "have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him."Colossians 3:10

Book of Deuteronomy, Chapter 9

 Chapter 9

Not Because of Righteousness

1 “Hear, O Israel: you are to cross over the Jordan today, to go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than you, cities great and fortified up to heaven, 2 a people great and tall, the sons of the Anakim, whom you know, and of whom you have heard it said, ‘Who can stand before the sons of Anak?’ 3 Know therefore today that he who goes over before you as a consuming fire is the Lord your God. He will destroy them and subdue them before you. So you shall drive them out and make them perish quickly, as the Lord has promised you.

4 “Do not say in your heart, after the Lord your God has thrust them out before you, ‘It is because of my righteousness that the Lord has brought me in to possess this land,’ whereas it is because of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord is driving them out before you. 5 Not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart are you going in to possess their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations the Lord your God is driving them out from before you, and that he may confirm the word that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

6 “Know, therefore, that the Lord your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stubborn people. 7 Remember and do not forget how you provoked the Lord your God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day you came out of the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against the Lord. 8 Even at Horeb you provoked the Lord to wrath, and the Lord was so angry with you that he was ready to destroy you. 9 When I went up the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant that the Lord made with you, I remained on the mountain forty days and forty nights. I neither ate bread nor drank water. 10 And the Lord gave me the two tablets of stone written with the finger of God, and on them were all the words that the Lord had spoken with you on the mountain out of the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly. 11 And at the end of forty days and forty nights the Lord gave me the two tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant. 12 Then the Lord said to me, ‘Arise, go down quickly from here, for your people whom you have brought from Egypt have acted corruptly. They have turned aside quickly out of the way that I commanded them; they have made themselves a metal image.’

The Golden Calf

13 “Furthermore, the Lord said to me, ‘I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stubborn people. 14 Let me alone, that I may destroy them and blot out their name from under heaven. And I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.’ 15 So I turned and came down from the mountain, and the mountain was burning with fire. And the two tablets of the covenant were in my two hands. 16 And I looked, and behold, you had sinned against the Lord your God. You had made yourselves a golden calf. You had turned aside quickly from the way that the Lord had commanded you. 17 So I took hold of the two tablets and threw them out of my two hands and broke them before your eyes. 18 Then I lay prostrate before the Lord as before, forty days and forty nights. I neither ate bread nor drank water, because of all the sin that you had committed, in doing what was evil in the sight of the Lord to provoke him to anger. 19 For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure that the Lord bore against you, so that he was ready to destroy you. But the Lord listened to me that time also. 20 And the Lord was so angry with Aaron that he was ready to destroy him. And I prayed for Aaron also at the same time. 21 Then I took the sinful thing, the calf that you had made, and burned it with fire and crushed it, grinding it very small, until it was as fine as dust. And I threw the dust of it into the brook that ran down from the mountain.

22 “At Taberah also, and at Massah and at Kibroth-hattaavah you provoked the Lord to wrath. 23 And when the Lord sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying, ‘Go up and take possession of the land that I have given you,’ then you rebelled against the commandment of the Lord your God and did not believe him or obey his voice. 24 You have been rebellious against the Lord from the day that I knew you.

25 “So I lay prostrate before the Lord for these forty days and forty nights, because the Lord had said he would destroy you. 26 And I prayed to the Lord, ‘O Lord God, do not destroy your people and your heritage, whom you have redeemed through your greatness, whom you have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand. 27 Remember your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Do not regard the stubbornness of this people, or their wickedness or their sin, 28 lest the land from which you brought us say, “Because the Lord was not able to bring them into the land that he promised them, and because he hated them, he has brought them out to put them to death in the wilderness.” 29 For they are your people and your heritage, whom you brought out by your great power and by your outstretched arm.’

If All Sin, What is the Difference?

What is the difference between saved and unsaved, if all sin? We read things like this.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23

Then we read this. As children of God, or saved people, we still sin.

“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” 1 John 1:8

What is the difference if these passages in the Word of God are true? How can we call out sin if we still sin? “He, without sin, let him cast the first stone.” Right? “Live and let live.” Right? This is what we are discussing today. Let us pray.

Heavenly Father, Lord God, we come before you today with love, praise, and gratitude. We thank you for your grace and your boundless love. We are grateful for your willingness to forgive our sins and for the gift of becoming your children. As we delve into your Word today, we pray for eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts to receive your truth and revelation. We ask this in Yeshua’s name. Amen.

One of the world's favorite things to say, whenever we point out sin, is this. They quote John 8:7

“And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, 'Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.'”

Or they mock us and say things like “Oh, you are perfect,” or “Must be nice to never sin.” If they know anything about the Word, or someone they know has told them to say, “What about 1 John 1:8? Why not worry about yourself? You know, like Jesus said, take the log out of your eye.”

Are these valid arguments? What is the difference, if we all sin, and we do, between us and them? The short answer? God. Yeshua. His holy blood.

“From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, 'Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 4:17

Also read this.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

This is the difference. Yes. It is true.

“Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins.” Ecclesiastes 7:20

However, there is a major difference between that and this.

“Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.” 1 John 3:4

Read that again. “Everyone who makes a practice of sinning.” In other words, everyone who willfully continues to sin, after hearing it is sin, “practices lawlessness.”

Say the sin that consumed you before you were saved is lust. You have been saved for a short time, or even a long time, and you are walking in the mall. All of a sudden, you see a beautiful young girl, braless and or barely clothed, and all these thoughts come rushing into your mind. You go home, and maybe you hop on the internet and start looking at things you used to know, but now you shouldn't. Did you willfully sin? Yes. You allowed the thought to become action, and even though you knew it to be wrong, you did it anyway.

However, you start to feel guilty, and you begin to be convicted. You turn it off, fall to your knees, and repent. “I’m sorry, God! Please forgive me. Help me to be stronger.” The next time a thought like this enters your mind, you can fight it off and refuse to give in.

Let's discuss this emerging trend. “God loves you, just as you are. You are saved, now live however you choose, and don’t worry about it. The Bible is not important, and it does not matter if it says this or that is sin. It is not a sin. The Bible was written thousands of years ago, and does not apply to today.”

This is a lie straight from the evil one. This is foretold in the Bible and is coming true today as we watch. They will tell you, “It’s not in there” {Holding up the Bible.}It is. They will tell you, “Well, it was added later.” It wasn't. They will tell you, “Well, it does not mean what you say.” It does. In frustration, they usually fall back on “You sin too. Who are you to judge? Throw the first stone. Right?”

The difference is this. You are in the middle of your lust. Looking at things you shouldn’t and doing things you shouldn't, and someone comes to you and says, “God loves you. He wants to set you free from your sin.” Then they share with you 1 John 2:16, Proverbs 6:25, and 1 Peter 2:11. They take time to explain them, and you fully understand what they are saying. Here is the difference. “Oh, well, I do not agree that it is a sin. I do not care what you think. It is fun and I love it. Since I'm sure you sin too. God forgives you, He will forgive me, so I will just keep being me.

Do you see the difference? The lack of repentance. The lack of concern or care for what God tells you is sin or not. You like the idea of salvation and going to heaven, but you do not like being told “what to do.” You want the prize, but you do not want to run the race. I have some sad news for ya, God will not be mocked.

“Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:7-10

We need to tell people the Truth.

“And Peter said to them, 'Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:38

Yes, we will struggle with sin. Yes, we will sin. Yet, the difference is that we have the blood of Christ to claim as the washing of our sins. Look here. In Revelations.

"The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.” Revelation 3:5

What about all those in this new movement? They claim to be “Christians.” They claim that God loves them and you, and all you have to do is accept Jesus, and all is good. What about the churches that we see popping up all over the place that teach “no sin,” or “no need of repentance, for Jesus already paid the price.” You know, the churches foretold in the Word. Romans 1, and here.

“For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.“ 2 Timothy 4:3-4

To be clear, and so that you understand with no doubt, turn to 1 John 3:4

“Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin.”

Who is that? Jesus, or Yeshua

“No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him.”

Highlight this, underline it, memorize it. “No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him.”

Pretty clear. If someone, anyone, teaches that you can accept Yeshua, love God, and still sin willfully daily with no need of repentance, they are lying to you. Verse 7

“Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning.”

Remember, Yeshua called the leaders of the synagogues and religious leaders of the day, “children of the devil.” You can find that exchange in John 8:44. Back to 1 John 3, verse 8

“The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God.”

If you have to, do it again. Highlight it, underline it, memorize it. “No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God.” Talking of willfully sinning and going against God and His Word.

“By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.”

The Bible makes clear that sin is sin, and good, or righteousness, is good. It makes it clear that you cannot call yourself, truthfully, a child of God if you continuously live in sin with no attempt to repent. I will repeat it. {Holding up the Bible} If it is not in here, or it is contrary to what is in here, it is a lie. If it is a lie, then it is not from God.

Have you been adopted? If not, say this Prayer. Right now. Wherever you may be, say it in your own words, and do not doubt in your heart. God will hear you. He will send the Spirit of Life to you. Let us pray.

"Oh, heavenly Father, Lord God. I am a sinner. I know this. I know there is nothing I can do to change that. But I know you can. I accept Yeshua's sacrifice for me. I believed He rose from the dead. I repent of my sins. Please send the Spirit of Adoption into my life. Help me to get to know the real you. Save me. Please. In the name of Yeshua, Amen!"

That's it. It is that simple. Now go tell someone what you have just done. "That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Yeshua, and shalt believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, You shall be saved." Romans 10:9. You need to find a Church that God leads you to and be baptized the way Jesus said to be. You are now a Child of God. A New Creature. You "have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him."Colossians 3:10

 Chapter 8

Remember the Lord Your God

1 “The whole commandment that I command you today you shall be careful to do, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land that the Lord swore to give to your fathers. 2 And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not. 3 And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. 4 Your clothing did not wear out on you and your foot did not swell these forty years. 5 Know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, the Lord your God disciplines you. 6 So you shall keep the commandments of the Lord your God by walking in his ways and by fearing him. 7 For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing out in the valleys and hills, 8 a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive trees and honey, 9 a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing, a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you can dig copper. 10 And you shall eat and be full, and you shall bless the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.

11 “Take care lest you forget the Lord your God by not keeping his commandments and his rules and his statutes, which I command you today, 12 lest, when you have eaten and are full and have built good houses and live in them, 13 and when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied, 14 then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, 15 who led you through the great and terrifying wilderness, with its fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty ground where there was no water, who brought you water out of the flinty rock, 16 who fed you in the wilderness with manna that your fathers did not know, that he might humble you and test you, to do you good in the end. 17 Beware lest you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.’ 18 You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day. 19 And if you forget the Lord your God and go after other gods and serve them and worship them, I solemnly warn you today that you shall surely perish. 20 Like the nations that the Lord makes to perish before you, so shall you perish, because you would not obey the voice of the Lord your God.

Sin in Time

 What is sin? 

I walked more than 3637 feet on the Sabbath. Did I Sin? I ate meat on Friday. Did I Sin? I drank an adult beverage this past Weekend. Did I Sin? The world says this or that is ok; however, I hear from my religious friend that this or that is a sin. How do I know? Who is telling me the truth, and who is lying to me?

My friend even scared me by reading this passage to me.

“How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? We know it is He who said, "Vengeance is mine; I will repay." And again, "The Lord will judge his people." It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. “ Hebrews 10:29-31

I have accepted Christ and have been "born again." According to the Word, I am a new creation. However, I am not perfect, and I will still sin. How can I discern what constitutes true sin? Let's explore this topic together today. Let us pray.

Heavenly Father, LORD God, we come before You today with all our praise, glory, and thanksgiving. We thank You for sending Your Son to die for our sins so that we may be forgiven. We are grateful for the opportunity to approach You, delve into Your Word, and grow in wisdom and understanding of what You desire for us. We ask for eyes to see, ears to hear, and a spirit to comprehend Your Word and Your intentions for our lives. We ask this in Yeshua’s name. Amen!

Of course, you are going to sin. Turn to Romans 3. Start at verse 21

“But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at present, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” Romans 3:21-26

Read that one part again. Christ came, why? “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Does this mean that since He came and since He died for us, we no longer sin? Of course not.

“If we... Who are we? Us. Saved people. “Say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” 1 John 1:8

This is why it is crucial to comprehend this passage. Turn to Romans 5:6

“For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person--though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die-- but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:6-8

Again, highlight it, underline it, know it. “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” So, all sin, whether saved or unsaved, should beg six main questions.

What is sin?
What is the difference between saved and unsaved, if all sin?
What is the evolution of morals?
Does God change with the times?
How can you remain steadfast?

These are what we will be talking about in this series entitled “Sin in Time.” Let's start with “What is sin?”

Of course, we know the “big ten.” Is that all though? Look how Yeshua answered this question from the young rich man. Matthew 19:16-22

“And behold, a man came up to him, saying, 'Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?" And he said to him, "Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments." He said to him, "Which ones?" And Jesus said, "You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother, and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself." The young man said to him, "All these I have kept. What do I still lack?"

Now read this next part carefully with me. Look how He phrases this.

“Jesus said to him, 'If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me." When the young man heard this, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.”

He was asked what the young man had to do. He answered and said, in essence, sin not. He told the truth. He had not sinned against these. If he had, I’m sure that Jesus would have pointed it out. 

However, He said, “If you were perfect.” In other words, you are okay; however, if you want to be perfect, you want more blessings and freedom, and you want to grow closer to me, then give up the world and follow me.

The man was attempting to live sin-free; he was doing ok for the most part, but he still lived in and loved the world. He was still sinning even though he was trying to be perfect. Say it with me: without God, it is impossible.

Remember, money and riches are very powerful idols in many people’s lives.

“No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money." Luke 16:13

What is sin?

Have no other God; love nothing in your life more than God. Put God first- pretty self-explanatory. If you do not love God, you will not accept Him and His Will and Way. You can not be His child if you hate Him. Nothing else will matter after this: idolatry, taking His name in vain, forgetting the Sabbath. You will commit all these sins if you do not love Him. Not honoring your father and mother is a sin. Murdering an innocent life is a sin. Having an affair is a sin. Stealing? Of course. Lying and bearing false witness against someone? Sin.

Is seeking what the neighbor has, and desiring to have the same? Keeping up with the Joneses? Is this a sin unto death? Yes. If you covet, or greatly desire, what your neighbor has, it can lead to stealing, adultery, and even murder.

Then you have this category, if you will. Sin that does not lead to death.

“All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that does not lead to death.” 1 John 17

Also, here in the Word, we read this.

“So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.” James 4:17

To put it extremely plainly, whatever is not of God is sin. Believe it or not, you cannot walk the fence. You really cannot. Turn to one of my favorite chapters in the Word of God, Romans 8. Starting at verse 5

"For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”

When you set your mind on the flesh, you accept, expect, desire, and produce the works of the flesh. Worse than that, you see nothing wrong with them. Turn with me if you would like to 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

“Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”

When you are in the flesh, you will produce these things and you will do these things. In Galatians 5:19-21, it spells out what the works of the flesh truly are.

“Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

When you seek after these things long enough, God will give you up to them. Romans 1:24-32 Some will, and He will allow you, to find a false church that teaches the things you want to hear. 2 Timothy 4:2-5. This, however, does not mean it is true or good. Just because someone wears a collar or calls themselves a teacher, pastor, or priest, does not mean that they are. If what they teach is not in here, or is contrary to this (Holding up the Bible,) then they are a false teacher.

“For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.” 2 Corinthians 11:13-15

Sin is anything that is not of God. If I am an Alcoholic, it is a sin for me to drink. Not a sin for you, but for me. Why? My love of drink is greater than my love of God. An Alcoholic can not drink just one; they get drunk. The Word does not say thou shalt not drink. It says, You shall not be drunk. When you get drunk, you lose your senses and control. You give yourself over to the feelings, and it takes away reasoning. It can lead to other sins, which can lead to the death of yourself and others. If I am not an Alcoholic, is it a sin for me to drink an adult beverage at a social gathering, or have a beer after a long day at work? No.

What about this eating of meat on Fridays? Sin? No. What about eating Pork? No. God says anything received with thanksgiving is made clean. Should you eat Pork 24/7? Of course not. It is not good for you. In time, it can even make you sick. But sin? No.

Is it a sin for me to pass by someone in need, who can help, and choose to do nothing? Yes. Why? Because Jesus said so. But for someone who has never heard the Truth, is it a sin for them to do nothing? No. Why? Because they don’t know any better. In my case, choosing to do nothing becomes a sin.

Simply put, when one is attempting to decipher what sin is, sin is to know the right thing to do and fail to do it. That is a sin. Do not be misled, as a child of God, you are not without sin. However, you have the authority and the ability to overcome all sin..

Now that you are a child of God, you can ask forgiveness for any sin you commit today. If you do, "He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Do not be misled, though. Just because you have been saved, it does not give you the right to sin willingly, knowing that you will be forgiven. He will not be used as a ticket to Sin. 

God knows your heart. He knows your mind. He can not be tricked or fooled. His grace abounds much more than our sin. You WILL sin. It's Human Nature. But be of good cheer. Your Father loves you, is with you, and will never forsake you, as long as you do not forsake Him.

Have you been adopted? If not, say this prayer. Right now. Wherever you may be, say it in your own words, and do not doubt in your heart. God will hear you. He will send the Spirit of Life to you. Let us pray.
