Book of Isaiah, Chapter 25

 Chapter 25

God Will Swallow Up Death Forever

1 O Lord, you are my God;

    I will exalt you; I will praise your name,

for you have done wonderful things,

    plans formed of old, faithful, and sure.

2 For you have made the city a heap,

    the fortified city a ruin;

the foreigners' palace is a city no more;

    it will never be rebuilt.

3 Therefore strong peoples will glorify you;

    cities of ruthless nations will fear you.

4 For you have been a stronghold to the poor,

    a stronghold to the needy in his distress,

    a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat;

for the breath of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall,

5     like heat in a dry place.

You subdue the noise of the foreigners;

    as heat by the shade of a cloud,

    so the song of the ruthless is put down.

6 On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples

    a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine,

    of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined.

7 And he will swallow up on this mountain

    the covering that is cast over all peoples,

    the veil that is spread over all nations.

8     He will swallow up death forever;

and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces,

    and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth,

    for the Lord has spoken.

9 It will be said on that day,

    “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us.

    This is the Lord; we have waited for him;

    let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”

10 For the hand of the Lord will rest on this mountain,

    and Moab shall be trampled down in his place,

    as straw is trampled down in a dunghill.

11 And he will spread out his hands in the midst of it

    as a swimmer spreads his hands out to swim,

    but the Lord will lay low his pompous pride together with the skill of his hands.

12 And the high fortifications of his walls he will bring down,

    lay low, and cast to the ground, to the dust.

There is a War Going On, Hell is a Real Place

 Hell is a real place.

Last time we learned that the enemy, or the devil, is real. Yes, folks, I know this is not popular teaching anymore, even in some of our churches, but it is the truth. Here is another. Hell is very real. We touched on this a bit last time. Why? No devil, then no hell. No devil, no hell, no sin. No sin, no reason for a Savior. No Savior, no God. No evil means no good. No hell, then no heaven. No judgment for sin, if there is no sin. Simply, live as you will.

It always amazes me when someone tells me that they believe in Jesus and a loving God and yet they do not believe in the devil or hell. Uh? OK. Then what exactly is Jesus "saving" you from? Makes no sense right? They do these things and teach these things out of fear. Fear of offending someone. Fear of being labeled this or that. Or simply fear of their own lifestyle.

Truth is hell is a very real place. Listen to this teaching from Jesus Himself. Matthew 25:31-46

"When the Son of Man comes in his gloryand all the angels with himthen he will sit on his glorious throneBefore him will be gathered all the nationsand he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goatsAnd he will place the sheep on his rightbut the goats on the leftThen the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Fatherinherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the worldFor I was hungry and you gave me foodI was thirsty and you gave me drinkI was a stranger and you welcomed meI was naked and you clothed meI was sick and you visited meI was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer himsaying, ‘Lordwhen did we see you hungry and feed youor thirsty and give you drinkAnd when did we see you a stranger and welcome youor naked and clothe youAnd when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘TrulyI say to youas you did it to one of the least of these my brothersyou did it to me.’

Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from meyou cursedinto the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angelsFor I was hungry and you gave me no foodI was thirsty and you gave me no drinkI was a stranger and you did not welcome menaked and you did not clothe mesick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ Then they also will answersaying, ‘Lordwhen did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prisonand did not minister to you?’ Then he will answer themsaying, ‘TrulyI say to youas you did not do it to one of the least of theseyou did not do it to me.’ And these will go away into eternal punishmentbut the righteous into eternal life.”

So there are two resurrections. One into glory, and one into condemnation. We see this in John 5:28-29 again.

"Do not marvel at thisfor the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forththose who have done goodto the resurrection of lifeand those who have done evilto the resurrection of condemnation."

Wait. Have you ever heard it put this way? "those who have done goodto the resurrection of life and those who have done evilto the resurrection of condemnation." Those who will not be saved, will still have a resurrection? "and those who have done evilto the resurrection of condemnation."

Hell is a very real place. However, let's look into what Jesus actually says.

"And he will place the sheep on his rightbut the goats on the leftThen the King will say to those on his right, ‘Comeyou who are blessed by my Fatherinherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world."

Wait. Stop. WHAT does Jesus say was prepared for us from the foundation of the World? "The Kingdom." Read that again.

"Comeyou who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world."

Then read this.

"Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from meyou cursedinto the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels."

See? He said He prepared the kingdom for the saved and eternal fire for the sinners. Wait? No. Actually, He said this.

"Depart from meyou cursedinto the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels."

The eternal fire, AKA hell, was created for who? "The Devil and his Angels." God is not some old man, sitting on a throne, waiting to see how many He can cast into hell. He is not sitting there waiting for you to slip up so He can punish you. He never intended you to go to hell at all. He created hell for one purpose. "The Devil and his Angels."

He never intended man to go there. He wants as many to be Saved from that as possible.

"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." 2nd Peter 3:9

One of the reasons that many do not like to teach, or accept that hell is real, is that they do not want to think that there is someone that they have lost there as we speak, being tortured continuously. I really believe that the Word teaches us that although hell is a real place, it is not open for business, if you will, yet. I believe it teaches very clearly that hell is future tense. Look at Job 21:30-32

"That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath. Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done? Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb."

Then this in 2 Peter 3:7

"But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men."

Remember Jesus Teaches us this in John 5:28-29

"Marvel not at thisfor the hour is comingin the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voiceAnd shall come forththey that have done goodunto the resurrection of lifeand they that have done evilunto the resurrection of damnation."

So no. Uncle Bob is not suffering endlessly for his sins as you are eating Ice Cream on Sunday afternoons. It is a future occurrence. However, make no mistake about it, it IS coming. Revelation 21:7-8

"He that overcometh shall inherit all things, and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

Even though it was not intended for you, can you still end up going there? Yup. The Word makes this very clear too. Accept Jesus and live. Reject Jesus and die. Do you know Jesus as your Savior? Have you been adopted into the Family of God? If not, say this Prayer. Right now. Wherever you may be. Say it in your own words, and do not doubt in your heart. God will hear you. He will send the Spirit of Life to you. Let us Pray.

"Oh heavenly Father, Lord God. I am a sinner. I know this. I know there is nothing I can do to change that. But I know you can. I accept Jesus's sacrifice for me. I repent my sins. Please send the Spirit of Adoption into my life. Help me to get to know the real you. Save me. Please. In the name of Jesus, Amen!"

That's it. It really is that simple. Now go tell someone what you have just done. "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9 You need to find a Church that God leads you to and be Baptized the way Jesus said to be. You are now a Child of God. A New Creature. You "have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator." Colossians 3:10

Book of Isaiah, Chapter 24

 Chapter 24

Judgment on the Whole Earth

1 Behold, the Lord will empty the earth and make it desolate,

    and he will twist its surface and scatter its inhabitants.

2 And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest;

    as with the slave, so with his master;

    as with the maid, so with her mistress;

as with the buyer, so with the seller;

    as with the lender, so with the borrower;

    as with the creditor, so with the debtor.

3 The earth shall be utterly empty and utterly plundered;

    for the Lord has spoken this word.

4 The earth mourns and withers;

    the world languishes and withers;

    the highest people of the earth languish.

5 The earth lies defiled

    under its inhabitants;

for they have transgressed the laws,

    violated the statutes,

    broken the everlasting covenant.

6 Therefore a curse devours the earth,

    and its inhabitants suffer for their guilt;

therefore the inhabitants of the earth are scorched,

    and few men are left.

7 The wine mourns,

    the vine languishes,

    all the merry-hearted sigh.

8 The mirth of the tambourines is stilled,

    the noise of the jubilant has ceased,

    the mirth of the lyre is stilled.

9 No more do they drink wine with singing;

    strong drink is bitter to those who drink it.

10 The wasted city is broken down;

    every house is shut up so that none can enter.

11 There is an outcry in the streets for lack of wine;

    all joy has grown dark;

    the gladness of the earth is banished.

12 Desolation is left in the city;

    the gates are battered into ruins.

13 For thus it shall be in the midst of the earth

among the nations,

as when an olive tree is beaten,

    as at the gleaning when the grape harvest is done.

14 They lift up their voices, they sing for joy;

    over the majesty of the Lord they shout from the west.

15 Therefore in the east give glory to the Lord;

    in the coastlands of the sea, give glory to the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.

16 From the ends of the earth we hear songs of praise,

    of glory to the Righteous One.

But I say, “I waste away,

    I waste away. Woe is me!

For the traitors have betrayed,

    with betrayal the traitors have betrayed.”

17 Terror and the pit and the snare

    are upon you, O inhabitant of the earth!

18 He who flees at the sound of the terror

    shall fall into the pit,

and he who climbs out of the pit

    shall be caught in the snare.

For the windows of heaven are opened,

    and the foundations of the earth tremble.

19 The earth is utterly broken,

    the earth is split apart,

    the earth is violently shaken.

20 The earth staggers like a drunken man;

    it sways like a hut;

its transgression lies heavy upon it,

    and it falls, and will not rise again.

21 On that day the Lord will punish

    the host of heaven, in heaven,

    and the kings of the earth, on the earth.

22 They will be gathered together

    as prisoners in a pit;

they will be shut up in a prison,

    and after many days they will be punished.

23 Then the moon will be confounded

    and the sun ashamed,

for the Lord of hosts reigns

    on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem,

and his glory will be before his elders.

There is a War Going On, The Enemy Is Real.

 The enemy is real.

There is a war going on. Right now, wherever you may be, whatever you are doing, there is a war going on. You are on one side or the other. You have a choice on which side you are on, but you do not have a choice to be in the war or not. There IS a war going on.

Just like any war, the only way you can win is to know the enemy. The enemy is real. He exists. He is really there. He is really actively seeking to destroy all those that leave him and join with the opposing side. Remember this from last time.
"Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him." Revelation 12:7-9
Then we read this in Isaiah 14:12-15
"How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low! You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most-High.’ But you are brought down to Sheol, to the far reaches of the pit."
Then God created mankind and gave us dominion over everything God created. This did not sit well with Lucifer, now known as Satan so he came to Adam and tempted him with the same temptation that he fell to.
"Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’” But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths." Genesis 3:1-7
God created all things. He gave Adam domination over all things. Adam fell for the same sin the devil did. The desire to be God. He in turn gave his God-given authority over to the devil and he has been in charge of this world ever since.

Look at this passage.
"Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil," Hebrews 2:14
Just simply being born after Adam, causes us to be subject to death, which is powered by? Read that last part again. "the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,"

So he is real, he does have the power of death. Meaning he can end human life on earth. However, he is NOT what you may think. One, YES. He is real. YES. He is powerful. look at this warning.
"Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world." 1 Peter 5:8-9
However, he is not a red wrinkly-faced, horned head, tail waging, pitchfork yielding, a demon from hell. The Bible calls him an "angel of light." {2 Corinthians 11:14} and the "prince of the power of the air" {Ephesians 2:2} and the "Day Star, son of Dawn" {Isaiah 14:12} Truth is if the devil himself was to open those doors and walk down the aisle, many people would fall to his feet thinking he was Jesus Himself. Or they would think he was some sort of Angel, which is true. He IS an Angel. He is the first Angel. The fairest of all the Angels.

Here is another very important part to remember also. He is not a god. He does control the physical realm. He does have the power of sickness and disease. He does have the power of death. He can and most definitely does tempt you. Whisper in your ear. But he can not make you do anything.

Look at this story. There were a set of days when "The sons of God," remember this is before Jesus came giving us the opportunity to become sons and daughters of God ourselves, had to present themselves before God. In other words, give an account to God, about what they have been doing. Here comes Satan himself. Walking in to present himself before God. Job 2:2
"And the Lord said to Satan, “From where have you come?” Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.”"
Again, he is not in hell. He is not in heaven. He is in the World. He is ON the Earth. He is not locked up yet. Do not buy into Religious teachings or Hollywood that want to tell you any different.
"And the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil? He still holds fast his integrity, although you incited Me against him to destroy him without reason."
Now God knows he was messing with Job. God understands that Satan hates anyone that loves God. Does He say to Satan, "Stop messing with him? He believes in Me and he is Mine?" Nope. He lets Satan answer the question. Satan says this.
"Then Satan answered the Lord and said, “Skin for skin! All that a man has he will give for his life. But stretch out your hand and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse you to your face.” And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your hand; only spare his life.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and struck Job with loathsome sores from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head."
Satan said, "Put forth your hand now and touch his bone and flesh." You see, Satan told God to do it. Why? Because Satan can do nothing without God's permission to those who love God. God said, "Behold, he is in your hand." The only thing God told Satan he could not do, was to take his life. He did not give Satan authority over Job. He said Look, he is already in your hand.

That is a powerful truth. What does that mean? Job, like us, was in the world. He was, as we are, flesh. While in the flesh, in the world, we are in Satan's hand. We are subject to the things in the world and of the flesh. That is why the fruit of the Flesh, or the works of the flesh, and mankind's heart, is evil.

Satan goes out and tempts Job. He inflicts his body with sickness and disease, turns his family and friends against him, and does many other things to Job. But Job endures it all, never losing faith, and is greatly rewarded for doing such.

Look at Peter. One of the Disciples Jesus loved the most. The same Peter was the only other man in recorded history to walk on water. This is the same Peter that Jesus said in Matthew 16:18
"And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."
This is the same Peter who said to Jesus that he would die for him. He would go to hell with him. The same Peter who cut off the right ear of Malchus, the High Priest's servant, when they came to take Jesus in the Garden to crucify Him. Jesus said THIS to Peter in Luke 22:31-32
"Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”
Imagine that. One of the most faithful people ever to walk the earth. One side by side with Jesus always. To that same Peter, Jesus said, "Satan wants you." Peter may have been thinking something like Jesus was going to say, I told him no. Don't worry Pete, I got ya back. But he didn't say that. What did he say? I pray that you are strong enough to withstand whatever it is he throws at you. He said, yup. Actually, He most likely said to Satan, "Behold, he is in your hand."

You see, even Jesus himself, while with us, in the flesh, was tempted by Satan. In Matthew 4, start at verse 1
"Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.  And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.”"
Notice the first temptation was that of what most people see as a necessity. Food. Jesus was fasting. You could say He was seeking first the Kingdom of God. Doing God's work. Remember, "Seek first the Kingdom of God and all these things will be added onto you?" So Jesus was hungry, and Satan, knowing he could, tempted Him to break his fast. To turn rocks into food and eat. But Jesus responded.
"But he answered, “It is written,

‘Man shall not live by bread alone,

but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”"
Then the devil tempted Him using His faith.
"Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple  and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written,

“‘He will command his angels concerning you,’

and

“‘On their hands they will bear you up,

lest you strike your foot against a stone.’”"
Now as it is written in Romans 8, remember? Nothing can separate us from the love of God. Not the Spirit. That nothing ever formed can do our Spirit any harm. Also, know this. Satan knows the Word. He was there when it was written. He can quote the Bible chapter and verse. He knows God and has, and continues to, see Him face to face. Does that make him good? Just a side note to my 'holier than thou" friends out there. But Jesus said this.
"Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test."
Then the devil tempted Jesus with his own temptation. The same that he tempted Adam with. To be God.
"Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to him, “All these I will give you if you will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Begone, Satan! For it is written,

“‘You shall worship the Lord your God

and He only shall you serve
.’”

Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him."
Now this one is important to understand. Again, Satan IS the lord of the earth. He told Jesus, I will give you all this, all you have to do is worship me. The promise of riches. A temptation even back then. But he would not be able to tempt Jesus with this if he was not able to deliver. You see Satan can tempt Jesus with all the kingdoms of the world because they belong to him.

Notice a couple of things here. First, who is it that Satan tempts? Is it those who do not know God? Nope. It is the faithful. He doesn't waste his time tempting those that already belong to him. he doesn't have to. Remember what Jesus said to the holier than thou crowd back in the day? Remember what he said to the "religious folks?" The Priests and Scribes. In John 8 he said this.
"Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me. Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God."
Then in Acts 4, Peter told the High Priest and Rulers, the religious folks, this, talking about Jesus.
"This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”"
Remember, hell was never intended for man. We get there by choice. By not accepting the gift that God gave the world through Jesus. In Matthew 25, Jesus said this.
"Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:"
All you have to do to join Satan and his angels as they go to hell and the lake of fire is simply not accept the gift. That's it. You can be as religious as you want to be. You can do whatever you chose to do. But if you do not have the key, you can't go through the door.

Therefore, Satan has no need to tempt you with anything. There is a war going on. The enemy is real. He is on his way to hell. Are you? Do you know Jesus as your Savior? Have you been adopted into the Family of God? If not, say this Prayer. Right now. Wherever you may be. Say it in your own words, and do not doubt in your heart. God will hear you. He will send the Spirit of Life to you. Let us Pray.

"Oh heavenly Father, Lord God. I am a sinner. I know this. I know there is nothing I can do to change that. But I know you can. I accept Jesus's sacrifice for me. I believed He raised from the dead. I repent my sins. Please send the Spirit of Adoption into my life. Help me to get to know the real you. Save me. Please. In the name of Jesus, Amen!"

That's it. It really is that simple. Now go tell someone what you have just done. "That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, you shall be saved." Romans 10:9. You need to find a Church that God leads you to and be Baptized the way Jesus said to be. You are now a Child of God. A New Creature. You "have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him."Colossians 3:10

Book of Isaiah, Chapter 23

 Chapter 23

An Oracle Concerning Tyre and Sidon

1 The oracle concerning Tyre.

Wail, O ships of Tarshish,

    for Tyre is laid waste, without house or harbor!

From the land of Cyprus

    it is revealed to them.

2 Be still, O inhabitants of the coast;

    the merchants of Sidon, who cross the sea, have filled you.

3 And on many waters

your revenue was the grain of Shihor,

    the harvest of the Nile;

    you were the merchant of the nations.

4 Be ashamed, O Sidon, for the sea has spoken,

    the stronghold of the sea, saying:

“I have neither labored nor given birth,

    I have neither reared young men

    nor brought up young women.”

5 When the report comes to Egypt,

    they will be in anguish over the report about Tyre.

6 Cross over to Tarshish;

    wail, O inhabitants of the coast!

7 Is this your exultant city

    whose origin is from days of old,

whose feet carried her

    to settle far away?

8 Who has purposed this

    against Tyre, the bestower of crowns,

whose merchants were princes,

    whose traders were the honored of the earth?

9 The Lord of hosts has purposed it,

    to defile the pompous pride of all glory,

    to dishonor all the honored of the earth.

10 Cross over your land like the Nile,

    O daughter of Tarshish;

    there is no restraint anymore.

11 He has stretched out his hand over the sea;

    he has shaken the kingdoms;

the Lord has given command concerning Canaan

    to destroy its strongholds.

12 And he said:

“You will no more exult,

    O oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon;

arise, cross over to Cyprus,

    even there you will have no rest.”

13 Behold the land of the Chaldeans! This is the people that was not; Assyria destined it for wild beasts. They erected their siege towers, they stripped her palaces bare, they made her a ruin.

14 Wail, O ships of Tarshish,

    for your stronghold is laid waste.

15 In that day Tyre will be forgotten for seventy years, like the days of one king. At the end of seventy years, it will happen to Tyre as in the song of the prostitute:

16 “Take a harp;

    go about the city,

    O forgotten prostitute!

Make sweet melody;

    sing many songs,

    that you may be remembered.”

17 At the end of seventy years, the Lord will visit Tyre, and she will return to her wages and will prostitute herself with all the kingdoms of the world on the face of the earth. 18 Her merchandise and her wages will be holy to the Lord. It will not be stored or hoarded, but her merchandise will supply abundant food and fine clothing for those who dwell before the Lord.

There is A War Going On, Reality

You are on one side or the other.

It is a beautiful spring morning. Summer beginning. Kiddos are out from school. A lazy morning. You go downtown. You smell Mr. Bear's Bakery cooking the day's treats. There is a war going on. You see kids playing in the play area. Swinging and laughing. There is a war going on. People coming and going, to and fro. There is a war going on. You should look up.

The Word declares this.
"Jesus left the temple and was going away when his disciples came to point out to him the buildings of the temple. But he answered them, “You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.”" Matthew 24:1-2
There is a war going on. A little later we read this. Again, this is Jesus talking.
"But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left." Matthew 24:36-39
Those kids you saw swinging and laughing? One swing will come back empty. People going to and fro? Some will simply disappear. Mr. Bear's Bakeshop? May catch fire and burn to the ground. Planes may fall from the sky. Why? Mr. Bear is a child of God. The Pilot is a child of God. There is no one left to mind the store, or fly the plane. There is a war going on.

This beautiful early Summer morning is the last day as humans know it, ever. There is a war going on, and you ARE on one side or the other.

Today we start a new series that is almost never discussed in today's churches. Even some of those mega-churches have stopped teaching about the war. They do not talk about it. They do not tell you about the enemy. They do not tell you that hell is a very real place. They do not tell you that you may very well be on your way there. You see. The person in the story I started to tell you is not a child of God. He is witnessing the end of the age. Or the "Day of the Lord." He is standing here watching it take place because he is on the wrong side. He did not even know.

This is a failure of some of our "churches." People today love to hear what they love to hear and some mainstream pastors have started to simply tell people what they want to hear. This is even predicted in the Bible.
"For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry." 2 Timothy 4:3-5
"Name it and Claim it." "The Prosperity Gospel." "There is no hell." "There is no devil." "Any god you choose is ok." "Jesus is only one way. There are many." These are lies straight out of the very pits of hell. These are lies being whispered by the devil himself. These lies will result in the utter annihilation of many "good" people. The total and utter destruction of some people who truly believe that they are doing the right things. There is a war going on.

Why is it so easy for the enemy to win many of these battles in the war? Many times, people cannot see it until it is too late.
"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places." Ephesians 6:12
If you are not told about the war, chances are you will not recognize a battle until you witness the destruction. The aftermath. Then you wonder, "What happened?" However, then is too late.

Why? Why have so many churches fallen away from the Truth? Why do so many simply fail to teach about the war, hell, and even the devil? The answer is both sad and simple. No devil means no evil. No hell means no consequences for your acts. No war? No end time destruction. Just joy and jubilee. Live as you will. Live laugh love, all will be ok.

The sad truth is, this is what the devil WANTS you to do. Do not worry about all this other stuff. Do not worry about some teacher that lived thousands of years ago, or if you do, then just take the good news He told you, and do not worry about anything else. Sin? Says who? Is it not a sin to judge others? Just love people, no matter what. Live and let die, huh, I mean to live and let live.

We are going to spend a great deal of time next time on the enemy himself. He is real, make no mistake about it. But there is a war going on. Turn to Revelation 12:7-9
Wait? A war in heaven? Isn't heaven suppose to be a place of peace and love and harmony? If a war breaks out in heaven, what chance do we have here on earth? But as we will learn more in-depth next time, the war comes to earth. The enemy turns this paradise into a world of sin, hate, and death. He arranged it so that you do not have to do anything to sign up, if you will, for his side. All you have to do is be born, fail to accept Jesus, and you are all his. Like it or not. Believe it or not.

This is why it is so important for you to learn about the truth. Why it is so important for you to understand the reality of the fact there IS a war going on. Paul is warning Timothy of this. Turn to Ephesians 6:10-20
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak." Ephesians 6:10-20
Remember, just as in the days of Noah, just a normal average everyday day, people going about their business. eating and drinking, working and living, hoping and dreaming, planning and executing, then it began to rain. Jesus also compared the end time to that of Sodom and Gomorrah.
"Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building, but on the day when Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all so will it be on the day when the Son of Man is revealed." Luke 17:28-30
There is a war going on. One day will be "The Day of the Lord" and all that you know will be gone. Which side are you on. Are you sure? When the swing comes back empty, and planes fall out of the sky, it will be too late. There is a war going on. The Enemy is real. and Hell is a very real place waiting to consume all sent there for an eternity. Are you sure you are on the winning side?

Book of Isaiah, Chapter 22

 Chapter 22

An Oracle Concerning Jerusalem

1 The oracle concerning the valley of vision.

What do you mean that you have gone up,

    all of you, to the housetops,

2 you who are full of shoutings,

    tumultuous city, exultant town?

Your slain are not slain with the sword

    or dead in battle.

3 All your leaders have fled together;

    without the bow they were captured.

All of you who were found were captured,

    though they had fled far away.

4 Therefore I said:

“Look away from me;

    let me weep bitter tears;

do not labor to comfort me

    concerning the destruction of the daughter of my people.”

5 For the Lord God of hosts has a day

    of tumult and trampling and confusion

    in the valley of vision,

a battering down of walls

    and a shouting to the mountains.

6 And Elam bore the quiver

    with chariots and horsemen,

    and Kir uncovered the shield.

7 Your choicest valleys were full of chariots,

    and the horsemen took their stand at the gates.

8 He has taken away the covering of Judah.

In that day you looked to the weapons of the House of the Forest, 9 and you saw that the breaches of the city of David were many. You collected the waters of the lower pool, 10 and you counted the houses of Jerusalem, and you broke down the houses to fortify the wall. 11 You made a reservoir between the two walls for the water of the old pool. But you did not look to him who did it, or see him who planned it long ago.

12 In that day the Lord God of hosts

    called for weeping and mourning,

    for baldness and wearing sackcloth;

13 and behold, joy and gladness,

    killing oxen and slaughtering sheep,

    eating flesh and drinking wine.

“Let us eat and drink,

    for tomorrow we die.”

14 The Lord of hosts has revealed himself in my ears:

“Surely this iniquity will not be atoned for you until you die,”

    says the Lord God of hosts.

15 Thus says the Lord God of hosts, “Come, go to this steward, to Shebna, who is over the household, and say to him: 16 What have you to do here, and whom have you here, that you have cut out here a tomb for yourself, you who cut out a tomb on the height and carve a dwelling for yourself in the rock? 17 Behold, the Lord will hurl you away violently, O you strong man. He will seize firm hold on you 18 and whirl you around and around, and throw you like a ball into a wide land. There you shall die, and there shall be your glorious chariots, you shame of your master's house. 19 I will thrust you from your office, and you will be pulled down from your station. 20 In that day I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, 21 and I will clothe him with your robe, and will bind your sash on him, and will commit your authority to his hand. And he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. 22 And I will place on his shoulder the key of the house of David. He shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open. 23 And I will fasten him like a peg in a secure place, and he will become a throne of honor to his father's house. 24 And they will hang on him the whole honor of his father's house, the offspring and issue, every small vessel, from the cups to all the flagons. 25 In that day, declares the Lord of hosts, the peg that was fastened in a secure place will give way, and it will be cut down and fall, and the load that was on it will be cut off, for the Lord has spoken.”

You May Never Know, Influencing Others

 Who you are influencing.

People ARE always watching. I want to share another true story. This is like three personal stories in like two weeks. If you have been here for any amount of time, you know I almost never do anything like this. I rarely talk about myself in the positive or the negative, because it is not about me. Yet, the past two weeks have brought these stories to mind. This one in particular.

I went online around 1991. Yeah I know, the 1900's. Can you believe it? I started out on discussion boards and comment sections of local and international newspaper sites. I was always faith-based and would debate, aka argue, with anyone for just about any reason. I would do so with love and would laden my arguments with the Word of God.

As time went on, the topics in the news started to lean more so toward politics, than anything else, therefore my arguments became increasingly political and this lead me into politics in general. I created a blog and was vested daily in political conversations and talking about top news stories. Think Talk Radio in Blog form. During this time, I went through a major life change and left New York and moved to Florida. Before I really thought about it, I all but walked away from God. No Church. No reading the Bible. I merely prayed once a day, if I remembered to do so.

One fateful day, a fellow poster and commentator named Sean, asked me, "Where is the faith-based Peter?" Wait. What? This offended me to tell you the truth. I'm me. I've always been me. Who in the, does he think he is? "Where is the faith-based Peter?" Seriously? The sad truth? He was right. See, in my own mind, I never changed. But I did. Majorly. Drastically. So much so that people noticed.

I was thinking about this for a while. The more I spend time with my family, and the more time I spend in the Word, and with God, the more I grow in faith. The less I grew in the desire to spend time talking about politics. I was praying about this and a question popped into my Spirit. "What is more important? Sharing the Truth according to God, sharing the Word. Explaining His Will and Way for Salvation? Leading someone to Salvation? Or, picking out "the Idiot of the Week?"" Then this. "The World has Rush, Sean, Mark, Glenn, Joyce, and many others." Then this passage came to mind. Luke 10:2
"And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."
Today, this day, someone will die. Someone will wake up, they will have coffee. Eat. Go off to work. They will not make it. Another will dress their child, and see them off to school, and that child will never return home. Someone will not even wake up. Just because the World doesn't end today, doesn't mean that today, is the last day of life for many. Think about 9-11. 3000 Americans and others, got up, did whatever they did every other day, kissed loved ones, went to work. Shortly after they got there, they were killed.

What is more important? Talking about the "Idiot of the Week," or picking out someone that has displayed logic? Or sharing the Truth according to God. Showing them The Way. Leading them to the simplicity of Salvation. Seriously? Pretty much a no-brainer. Don't ya think?

So I made this decision and Sean posted something to the effect of "Thank God. You have no idea how many people you have helped." He was right about that too. I do truly have no idea. I was not even really aware I was helping anyone. I was just talking. But people were listening. People were watching. Here is another story. The story of one man, attending one tent meeting.

This man grew up during the Great Depression on a dairy farm near Charlotte, North Carolina. As a teenager, he grudgingly attended church with his family, and found his family’s Bible-reading, praying, and psalm-singing left him feeling restless and resentful.

In May of 1934, Christian businessmen in Charlotte, North Carolina, held an all-day prayer meeting on his father’s pasture. This man’s father, William Franklin Graham, Sr., recalled one of the men’s prayers that day: “That out of Charlotte the Lord would raise up someone to preach the Gospel to the ends of the earth.”

“At that time, in 1934, it certainly wasn’t obvious that, that someone, might be me.” Billy Graham wrote.

“I did not want anything to do with an evangelist—particularly with such a colorful character as Dr. Ham,” Billy Graham said. “I told my parents that I would not go to hear him. Apparently, the evangelist knew what he was talking about,” Billy Graham wrote. “He claimed to have affidavits from certain students that a house across the street from the school, supposedly offering the boys and girls lunch during noon recess, actually gave them some additional pleasures.”

Rumors flew that angry students planned to march on the tabernacle and demonstrate right in front of the platform. And that maybe they would even injure Dr. Ham. Just As I recount the moment: “That stirred up my curiosity,” Billy Graham recalled, “and I wanted to go just to see what would happen. But how could I save face after holding out for nearly a month?”

“Why don’t you come out and hear our fighting preacher?” a friend suggested. “Is he a fighter?” I asked. That put a little different slant on things. I like a fighter.”

His friend offered another incentive, letting Billy Graham drive his old vegetable truck into town for the meeting. Billy Graham drove the truck, “loaded with as many folks, white and black, as [his friend] could get to go along.”

Dr. Ham began preaching, loudly, Billy Graham recalled. Recounting the night many years later, he said, “I have no recollection of what he preached about, but I was spellbound. In some indefinable way, he was getting through to me. I was hearing another voice … the voice of the Holy Spirit.”

Billy Graham was that one man, at that tent meeting, and look what history tells us from that day on. Over the course of 60 years, he preached to a stunning 210 million people around the globe and held an impressive 417 crusades. Did Dr. Ham know that the one reluctant attendee would end up leading countless people to Jesus? I doubt it.

This is why it is so important to simply be the child of God you are. We read this in 1 Peter 2:12
"Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation."
A little bit later, Peter writes this in 1 Peter 3:16
"Having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame."
1 Timothy 4:12
reads like this.
"Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity."
We, if you are young or old, or somewhere in between, must live how God asks us to live. If people are watching us, and make no mistake about it, they are, then do they actually see a difference in us and the rest of the world? As my Pastor said many times, "we may be the only Jesus that some people will ever see. What are they seeing?"

We must be careful. The Word warns us of this.
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." Romans 12:2
People are watching. You ARE influencing more people than you know. This is why Jesus Himself tells us this as recorded in Matthew 5:16
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Chances are, you will never see the impact you have here on this earth. You tell John Doe. Jane Doe. They go and have a life-changing God experience. They move away to another country and start a ministry, or perhaps even change that country. They will meet people you never will. They will do things that you never will. All you did was plant the seed. Job well done. Now let God. You have no idea. You may never know who, or how many people you are influencing. Just because you do not know, does not mean there are not many people watching. Always think of yourself as on stage or as if people are always watching. They are. What are they watching you do? If you are the only Jesus some people meet?

Book of Isaiah, Chapter 21

 Chapter 21

A Prophecy Against Babylon

1 A prophecy against the Desert by the Sea:

Like whirlwinds sweeping through the southland,

    an invader comes from the desert,

    from a land of terror.

2 A dire vision has been shown to me:

    The traitor betrays, the looter takes loot.

Elam, attack! Media, lay siege!

    I will bring to an end all the groaning she caused.

3 At this my body is racked with pain,

    pangs seize me, like those of a woman in labor;

I am staggered by what I hear,

    I am bewildered by what I see.

4 My heart falters,

    fear makes me tremble;

the twilight I longed for

    has become a horror to me.

5 They set the tables,

    they spread the rugs,

    they eat, they drink!

Get up, you officers,

    oil the shields!

6 This is what the Lord says to me:

“Go, post a lookout

    and have him report what he sees.

7 When he sees chariots

    with teams of horses,

riders on donkeys

    or riders on camels,

let him be alert,

    fully alert.”

8 And the lookout  shouted,

“Day after day, my lord, I stand on the watchtower;

    every night I stay at my post.

9 Look, here comes a man in a chariot

    with a team of horses.

And he gives back the answer:

    ‘Babylon has fallen, has fallen!

All the images of its gods

    lie shattered on the ground!’”

10 My people who are crushed on the threshing floor,

    I tell you what I have heard

from the Lord Almighty,

    from the God of Israel.

A Prophecy Against Edom

11 A prophecy against Dumah:

Someone calls to me from Seir,

    “Watchman, what is left of the night?

    Watchman, what is left of the night?”

12 The watchman replies,

    “Morning is coming, but also the night.

If you would ask, then ask;

    and come back yet again.”

A Prophecy Against Arabia

13 A prophecy against Arabia:

You caravans of Dedanites,

    who camp in the thickets of Arabia,

14     bring water for the thirsty;

you who live in Tema,

    bring food for the fugitives.

15 They flee from the sword,

    from the drawn sword,

from the bent bow

    and from the heat of battle.

16 This is what the Lord says to me: “Within one year, as a servant bound by contract would count it, all the splendor of Kedar will come to an end. 17 The survivors of the archers, the warriors of Kedar, will be few.” The Lord, the God of Israel, has spoken.

Book of 1 Samuel, Chapter 11

  Chapter 11 Saul Defeats the Ammonites 1 Then Nahash the Ammonite went up and besieged Jabesh-Gilead, and all the men of Jabesh said to Nah...
